Purpose of the Job
To teach, supervise, promote research, disseminate research findings, and participate in Community Service.
Person Specifications
1) PhD in the Biological field
2) Master of Science in Botany or Zoology
3) Bachelor of Science degree in Education, majoring in Biology or a Bachelor of Science degree majoring in Biology.
4) At least three (3) years’ teaching at the level of Lecturer in an Institution of Higher Learning, or three (3) years of research in a reputable organisation
5) Evidence of research in the relevant field with at least three (3) new publications within the last five years in peer peer-reviewed journal or a book or book chapters with ISBN Numbers.
6) Evidence of supervision of at least one (1) graduate student to completion.
Duties and Responsibilities
a) Developing and reviewing curriculum.
b) Teaching and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate students according to set guidelines of the University.
c) Mentoring students.
d) Conducting research.
e) Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects.
f) Offering community service.
Key Outputs
i. Curricular developed and reviewed
ii. Lectures, seminars, and tutorials conducted.
iii. Teaching sessions.
iv. Research conducted and research findings disseminated/published.
v. Students’ research supervised.
vi. Student assessments done.
vii.Number of community service activities carried out
a) Developing and reviewing curriculum. b) Teaching and assessing undergraduate and postgraduate students according to set guidelines of the University. c) Mentoring students. d) Conducting research. e) Supervising undergraduate and postgraduate research projects. f) Offering community service.
