Head, Trading 2025-08-07T11:48:00+00:00 Standard Bank https://cdn.ugashare.com/jsjobsdata/data/employer/comp_3909/logo/Standard%20Bank%20Group.png https://www.standardbank.com/ FULL_TIME Hannington Road 17 Kampala 00256 Uganda Banking Admin & Office 2025-08-14T17:00:00+00:00 Uganda 8 Job Description To lead and manage the Trading Desk activities across a product portfolio and across multiple markets, to achieve the Trading Desk Profit and Loss (P&L), create sustainable revenue mix for the Desk and explore new revenue opportunities, enhance profitability and market share growth, while maintaining risk management standards and complying with market codes of conduct, regulations and defined risk levels. - Data Insights - Own, manage and / or leverage Trading Desk Data and Intellectual Property (e.g. client and market data, insights and analytics, relevant trading and funding strategies), to proactively improve desk performance and client centricity, as well as provide leadership with relevant MI to enable informed decision making.
- Market Knowledge & Analytics - Monitor, collect and analyse current and expected market developments, trends, and performance to identify and recommend trading opportunities and positions for the desk to capitalise on trading profit and minimise loses, while considering market share and maintaining competitive position.
- People management - Lead teams in a manner that makes people excited about their purpose, relevance and individual contribution to the SBG strategic ambition. Create a space where people can make decisions, learn and embrace required changes
- Pricing Risk - Lead Market Making excellence by enabling brilliant basics in the formulation of consistent and competitive pricing strategies (both traditional and non-traditional) and high quality risk management solutions.
- Product development - Drive and enhance the asset class digital solutions from origination to implementation including pricing, forecasting, and budgeting. This includes creating an environment for experimentation that fosters learning and disruption
- Regulatory Compliance - Develop knowledge of CIBs risk policies, procedures, documentation and authorisation limits to manage and ensure effective implementation of said policies, procedures and controls covering all areas ensuring compliance while delivering a quality and cost-effective service.
- Sales Enablement - Collaborate with sales leads to drive fit for purpose Trading strategies to address multiple and divergent client needs and / or long term objectives. Lead the development and provision of best in class market commentary and insights, support the sales teams to position SBG as a relevant, available and competitive partner
Qualifications - A First Degree in quantitative studies, statistics, analytics or a related field
- 10 to 15 years of experience within trading
- At least 5 years' experience managing people, processes and demonstrated ability to use judgement, supported by in depth knowledge and experience, to solve escalated problems which may have a significant degree of complexity.
- Advanced knowledge of a broad range of trading techniques including trading/hedging strategies, market liquidity and volatility, options, derivatives, futures, swaps, exotics pricing and trading limits. Required
- Advanced to expert understanding of financial and global markets, economic and market drivers, risk and regulatory environments and license holder obligations in relevant jurisdictions
- Advanced / Expert knowledge in risk management strategies.
