In addition, the role will support IWCA Ugandaâs overall financial operations, ensuring sound financial controls and compliance with donor and organizational policies. Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting - Oversee day-to-day financial operations, payments, and bookkeeping for the EYE-C program.
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records, ensuring compliance with donor guidelines and IWCA policies.
- Assist in the preparation of budget forecasts, expenditure tracking, and financial projections for program activities.
- Ensure timely financial reporting to the Project Director, IWCA Uganda Board, and funding partners.
- Support project audits by ensuring proper documentation and adherence to financial procedures.
- Manage cash flow, disbursements, and reconciliations for the project.
- Ensure proper financial documentation, including invoices, receipts, payroll records, and procurement documents.
Compliance, Audits & Risk Management - Ensure all financial transactions comply with national tax laws, donor requirements, and IWCA financial policies.
- Prepare financial statements and assist in both internal and external audits for the EYE-C program.
- Identify and mitigate financial risks, ensuring strong internal controls.
- Monitor program expenditures to prevent fraud, waste, and mismanagement.
IWCA Uganda Financial Oversight - Support IWCA Ugandaâs overall financial health, budgeting, and sustainability planning.
- Assist in fundraising efforts by preparing budget proposals and financial reports for donors.
- Contribute to financial planning for IWCA Ugandaâs non-project activities.
- Ensure that financial systems for both the EYE-C program and IWCA Uganda are aligned and harmonized.
Payroll & Procurement Oversight - Oversee payroll processing, ensuring accurate salary payments and statutory deductions.
- Work closely with the procurement team to ensure cost-effective, compliant procurement processes.
Qualifications & Experience - Bachelorâs degree in accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (CPA or ACCA qualification is an added advantage).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or financial management, preferably in donor-funded projects.
- Strong understanding of Ugandaâs financial regulations, taxation laws, and compliance requirements.
- Experience working with NGOs, international development programs, or agricultural projects is a plus.
- Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, or similar ERP systems).
Preferred Skills & Competencies - Excellent analytical, budgeting, and financial forecasting skills.
- Strong knowledge of donor compliance, financial reporting, and risk management.
- Ability to work across multiple stakeholders, balancing EYE-C program and IWCA Ugandaâs financial needs.
- High attention to detail and integrity in financial management.
- Proficiency in English and local Ugandan languages is an advantage.
