Background and context about the project
The British Council is the UKâs international organisation for cultural relations and educational opportunities. We create friendly knowledge and understanding between the people of the UK and other countries. We do this by making a positive contribution to the UK and the countries we work with â changing lives by creating opportunities, building connections and engendering trust.
We work with over 100 countries across the world in the fields of arts and culture, English language and education. Each year we reach over 20 million people face-to-face and more than 500 million people online, via broadcasts and publications. Founded in 1934, we are a UK charity governed by Royal Charter and a UK public body.
Youth Connect is our global leadership programme that empowers young people to contribute to positive social and economic change, fostering more peaceful and prosperous communities. It supports young people to develop the skills, confidence and connections to tackle major challenges like limited economic opportunities, inequality and polarisation.
We work with a range of local, national and international partners online and on the ground in over 30 countries. Together, we create spaces for young people to connect and collaborate for change with their peers and broader ecosystems. We provide opportunities for young people to develop their leadership abilities, build knowledge and participate in networks to shape better futures for themselves and their communities.
