REQUIRED TECHNICAL SKILLS, TRAINING & EXPERIENCE - Diploma in Fisheries Management & Technology, Biomedical Laboratory Technology or any discipline in Fisheries and other related field
- 1â2 years of experience in a similar or related role
- Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
- Strong analytical skills
- Ability to work unsupervised and under pressure.
- High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
- Knowledge of water science
- Able to swim.
- Checking Pond Water Parameters like Temperature, pH, dissolved oxygen etc at 07:00am in the morning, 3:00pm in the afternoon and in the evening before departure.
- Calibrate equipment and verify data for data accuracy and ensure proper record keeping.
- Collect water samples from the ponds and perform water quality analysis.
- Prepare daily Analysis / water quality report for submission to the Hatchery Manager.
- Ensure the aeration system is switched off once the dissolved Oxygen is above 3.0 mg/L and recheck every after 30 minutes.
- Analyze the weather condition to monitor dissolved Oxygen in the ponds.
- Ensure that Pond water is exchanged once in bad condition to avoid mortalities considering the cost implication of flashing the pond.
- Apply necessary minerals for water fertilization to make the pond water ideal for cultured fish.
- Process weekly fuel requisitions with Approval of the line manager to ensure that genset is fueled all the time to run in the night for oxygen generation in the ponds.
- Ensure proper utilization and maintenance of laboratory equipment as well as keeping them clean all the time.
- Maintain a safe and healthy work environment by complying with health, safety and environmental procedures and legislation as well as maintaining housekeeping standards.
- Any other duties assigned by the Supervisor / Line Manager.
