Reports to: Hatchery hardware supervisor (machinery and storage) Division: Production Department: Hardware and Expansion Grade: GW Direct Reports: None Key Responsibilities: - Operate and maintain pumps, valves according to the supply schedule.
- Ensure proper water flow rates and pressure to the hatchery ponds and other operational areas.
- Monitor pump performance including the motor temperature, pressure and vibrations.
- Coordinate with water supply and control technicians to maintain constant and reliable water supply to the hatchery ponds.
- Conduct daily checks on pumps, suction lines, discharge pipes and valves
- Coordinate with Hatchery and Engineering teams to ensure optimum water supply and maintenance are achieved.
- Coordinate and implement all maintenance schedules related to main pumps
- Record and report pump operation activities and incidents.
- Implement water conservation measures in line with sustainability practices.
- Follow electrical and mechanical safety protocols when operating the pumps and valves.
- Report any breakdowns and assist in troubleshooting minor operational issues.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by the line manager
Required Skills & Qualifications: - Diploma/Certificate in mechanical and production engineering/water engineering/Plumbing/Electrical or any other related fields
- Experience in pump operation and water management
- Knowledge of pump operation, plumbing, and basic hydraulics.
- Ability to identify basic mechanical faults
- Understanding of aquaculture water requirements is an added advantage
- Ability to work outdoors and under physically demanding conditions.
