On behalf of Our client in the Manufacturing Sector, we are looking for competent and experienced Warehouse Officer to be based in Kampala. Reports To: Warehouse Manager Duty Station: Kampala, Uganda. Job Summary: The Warehouse Officer will oversee day-to-day warehouse operations at the companyâs facilities. The role focuses on efficient receipt, storage, issuance, and dispatch of raw materials, spare parts, consumables, and finished roofing products. Main Duties and Responsibilities - Oversee receiving, inspection, and verification of incoming goods against purchase orders, delivery notes, and quality standards; prepare Goods Received Notes and report any discrepancies.
- Organize efficient storage and layout of inventory to maximize space, prevent damage, ensure proper segregation and apply FIFO principles where relevant for steel and coating materials.
- Process material requisitions and issue stock to production lines, showrooms, or customers accurately and promptly, maintaining detailed records of all movements.
- Conduct regular cycle counts, periodic physical stock takes, and reconcile physical inventory with ERP Software (e.g., SAP); investigate variances, perform root cause analysis, and implement corrective actions.
- Update inventory records in real-time for receipts, issues, transfers, adjustments, and returns; generate daily/weekly/monthly reports on stock levels, movements, aging, and slow-moving items.
- Monitor stock levels to prevent shortages or overstocking; flag re-order requirements and coordinate with procurement and production teams.
- Ensure warehouse housekeeping, safety compliance security of stock, and adherence to health, fire, and environmental regulations.
- Supervise and guide warehouse assistants, casual laborers, or forklift operators on proper material handling, documentation, and safety procedures.
- Participate in internal/external audits, implement inventory control improvements, and contribute to continuous process enhancement in warehouse efficiency
Qualifications, Experience, and Skills - Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Warehouse Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum 3â5 years of practical experience in warehouse operations, inventory management, or stores functions, preferably in manufacturing (steel, metal processing, building materials, roofing, or heavy industry).
- Solid understanding of warehouse best practices, inventory control techniques (cycle counting, FIFO, stock valuation), and material handling for bulky items.
- Proficiency in ERP software (SAP experience highly advantageous)
- Strong attention to detail, numerical accuracy, and record-keeping abilities.
- Knowledge of safety protocols, especially for handling steel coils, sheets, and industrial equipment.
- Good communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform physical duties, including lifting and organizing stock safely.
