- Established in 1999 under UN DPKO.
- SCR 2277 (2016) mandates MONUSCO to:
- Support DRC Government in civilian protection.
- Reduce threats from armed groups & violence (including SGBV & child violence).
- Strengthen Congolese justice/security institutions.
- Promote stabilization via professional state institutions.
- Project Objective
- Enhance understanding of serious human rights/IHL violations in DRC.
- Support Mission leadership through:
- Informed policy/decision-making (e.g., vetting security forces).
- Risk assessment/mitigation.
- Joint operational planning & advocacy.
- Context
- Assignment location: ENTEBBE (with-family).
- Task Description (UN Volunteer Role: Electrical/Electronic Repairs & Diagnostic Tools)
- Maintenance & Repairs
- Service electrical/electronic systems in Missionâs UNOE fleet.
- Use diagnostic tools (OBD scanners, multimeters, testers) to detect malfunctions.
- Technical Support
- Advise technicians on vehicle electrical/electronic systems.
- Assist in complex repairs.
- Tool & Software Management
- Support acquisition of new diagnostic tools.
- Oversee software programming/upgrades (e.g., ECU, OBD).
- Spare Parts & Documentation
- Identify correct spare parts for repairs.
- Monitor usage reports/service orders.
- Prepare vehicle write-off documentation.
- Capacity Building
- Train national staff on diagnostic tools.
- Guide proper use of service tools (SSTs).
- Reporting & Safety
- Document workshop performance (personnel, warranties, vendor support).
- Enforce safety procedures for equipment/operations.
- Additional Duties
- Perform tasks as directed by Motor Transport Officer/Workshop Supervisor.
