URRI is funded by the Royal Danish Embassy in Kampala. The overall purpose of the role: The position holder will strengthen the programmeâs visibility and ensure smooth delivery of meetings, workshops, and events. The role combines practical coordination and organizational support with hands-on communication and branding work. Your main duties and responsibilities will be: Secretariat Support and Events Management (65%) - Support planning, coordination and documentation of quarterly Joint Management Group (JMG) meetings.
- Support the planning and organization of annual IMC meetings, including programme development, logistics, invitations, and on-site facilitation.
- Support the planning and organization of field visits, including itinerary development, logistics, development of briefing notes and on-site facilitation.
- Support preparation of URRI programme reviews, including mid-term, and end-of-programme reviews.
- Support planning, coordination, and documentation of cross-consortia coordination initiatives.
- Prepare participant lists, minutes, reports, and photo documentation from events, meetings and missions.
- Support follow up actions from meetings and events.
Communication, Branding and Visibility (35%) - Support the management of URRIâs social media channels (LinkedIn, X, Instagram), including content planning, posting, and analytics.
- Work with Consortia Communications Focal Points to design and maintain a centralized URRI Photo and Video Repository for use by all partners.
- Support the collection and packaging of human-interest stories, photos, and short videos from URRI activities, including through the procurement of freelance services.
- Support the development of press releases, articles, and success stories for dissemination through social media and partner platforms.
- Support production and archive high-quality communications and visibility materials, ensuring URRI partnersâ compliance with DANIDA visibility requirements.
- Provide editorial, visual design, and documentation support to the Secretariat and partners to strengthen communications efforts.
- Undertake any other tasks or responsibilities as required to support the overall objectives of the Secretariat.
About you To be successful in this role, you must have at least 5 years of relevant experience in programme and secretariat coordination, communications, or events management, preferably in development or humanitarian work. Moreover, we also expect the following. Required - Bachelorâs degree in Development Studies, International Relations, Social Sciences, Communication, Public Relations, or related field.
- Proven experience organizing meetings, workshops, or high-level events, including logistics, participant coordination, and documentation.
- Proven experience managing social media channels for an organization.
- Excellent writing, editing, and organizational skills with attention to detail.
- Experience working in multi-partner or donor-funded programmes.
- Photography, videography, and graphic design skills are a strong advantage.
- Proactive, creative, flexible, and able to work independently as part of a small, fast-paced team.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to coordinate effectively across diverse stakeholders.
- Excellent multitasking and time management skills.
- Fluency in written and spoken english.
Desirable - Interest in refugee resilience, climate adaptation, and gender equality is an asset.
- Knowledge of local languages spoken in URRI targeted districts is an advantage.
