Job Title:  UI/UX Designer – Consultant ( Re-Advertised) Organisation: Kanzu Code Duty Station:  Kampala, Uganda About US: Kanzu Code is an inclusive custom digital platform development company. Job Summary:   This consultant role is critical in shaping the visual identity of the company, ensuring that designs align with branding and marketing goals. Their role will be to particularly enhance user experience, building trust, and ensuring clarity in financial communication. Key Duties and Responsibilities: - Collaborate with developers to design intuitive, user-friendly digital banking interfaces.
- Design wireframes, mockups, and UI components for web and mobile applications.
- Optimize graphics for responsiveness and performance on different devices.
- Assist with video and motion graphics for animated content (if applicable).
- Develop custom illustrations, icons, and vector graphics for use across platforms..
- Work closely with marketing, and development teams to align visual content with business goals.
- Participate in brainstorming sessions to develop innovative design ideas.
- Provide creative direction for photography and video content where necessary.
- Ensure all designs are optimized for web and mobile use.
- Maintain organized files and design assets for future use.
- Keep up-to-date with design trends, fintech industry standards, and best practices.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: - Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Visual Arts, Fine Arts, or a related field
- Diploma or certification in Graphic Design, Multimedia, or related disciplines.
- Self-taught designers with a strong portfolio can also qualify
Experience - 3-5 years of experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Graphic Design, Computer Science, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), or related field (not always required; skills and experience matter more)
- Certifications in UI/UX design (e.g., Google UX Design, Nielsen Norman Group, Coursera) are a plus.
- Previous experience in branding, UI/UX design, motion graphics, or web design is a plus.
- Freelance projects, internships, or a strong portfolio demonstrating skills can substitute for formal experience.
Skills and Competencies - UI Design Tools – Figma, Adobe XD, Sketch, Photoshop, Illustrator
- UX Research & Prototyping – Wireframing, usability testing, user research
- Frontend Knowledge – Basic understanding of HTML, CSS, JavaScript (optional but beneficial)
- Responsive & Mobile-First Design – Ensuring designs work on all devices
