Our Uganda program, founded in 2014, provides more than 34,000 farmers with quality farm supplies as well as fruit trees like avocados. Our team in Uganda is headquartered in Jinja, close to the districts we serve, and supported by a small presence in Kampala. One Acre Fund works in the eastern region of Uganda, primarily in the districts of Iganga, Jinja, Kamuli, and Buikwe. We are also expanding to the Central region. About the Role We are seeking a professional with experience in Agronomy to help drive farmer impact at scale. In this role, you will support regional teams, assist with training initiatives, and help execute field trials and innovations from start to finish. Your primary focus will be agronomy, supporting trial monitoring, contributing to extension work, and assisting with training (including nursery management) to improve impact across coffee, trees, and nurseries. The Regional Innovations Officer supports regional innovation efforts and contributes to farmer impact by providing input to field teams, supporting cross-departmental collaboration, helping manage field trials, and assisting with cross-functional product rollouts from ideation through execution. This role offers the opportunity to build skills in project management, cross-departmental collaboration, and farmer trial support. You will report to the Agronomy Lead. Responsibilities Innovations, R&D & Trial Management Identify knowledge gaps, coordinate regional field trials, and manage data collection across the entire product lifecycle from ideation to rollout. Drive Regional Impact Strategy Provide technical guidance to program teams, facilitate knowledge transfer, and design standardised data collection tools to scale new initiatives effectively. Field Presence & Support Conduct regular field visits to build fluency in operational contexts, understand longitudinal trends, and support farmer training sessions. For this role specifically, you will have: - 1â2 years of experience in agronomy, extension work, or climate-smart sustainable agriculture
- Familiarity with the scientific method, experimental design, and randomized controlled trials, plus foundational data analysis and statistics skills.
- Ability to help synthesize and interpret qualitative and quantitative data into practical recommendations, with good report writing and communication skills.
- Some project coordination experience, with good stakeholder collaboration and the ability to follow through on tasks.
- Good judgment, creative problem-solving skills, and the ability to adapt quickly; interest in human-centered design and product development
- Interest and ability to support training initiatives.
