MMU strives to become an academic Centre of excellence, by recruiting high caliber staff. MMU therefore invites applications from suitably qualified and skilled Ugandans for the following positions: - Purpose of the Job: To manage and coordinate the University's transport and logistics operations. Duties and Responsibilities - Plan, schedule, and coordinate transport services for staff, students, and official University activities.
- Supervise Drivers, Bus Attendants, and other transport staff to ensure effective service delivery and discipline.
- Monitor utilisation, condition, and performance of the University fleet and transport equipment.
- Coordinate routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance of vehicles and related equipment.
- Manage fuel consumption, spare parts, and logistics supplies to ensure proper accountability and availability.
- Ensure compliance with road safety regulations, traffic laws, and University transport policies.
- Maintain accurate transport records, vehicle logs, schedules, reports, and other operational documentation.
- Support procurement processes for transport-related goods, services, repairs, and supplies.
- Respond to transport emergencies and resolve operational challenges in a timely manner.
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Person Specifications Qualifications - An Honors Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or Automotive Engineering, from a recognized Institution.
- Have a valid driving permit (Class D).
Experience - Should have a minimum of five (5) years' relevant working experience in Mechanical Engineering in Government or reputable organization.
- Knowledge of transport management, fleet management and scheduling.
- Experience in driving.
Competences - Staff supervision and coordination skills
- Record keeping, reporting, and documentation skills.
- Teamwork and flexibility.
- Clear Communication.
- Interpersonal skills.
- Time management.
- Accuracy and attention to detail.
- Integrity and accountability.
