On behalf of our client in Logistics, we are looking for a competent, skilled, and experienced Transit Manager to work in Uganda Activities The main responsibility of the position holderâs: - Strategic Trade Execution: Lead end-to-end import, export, and transit operations, including optimized route planning and multi-modal customs coordination.
- Regulatory & Authority Liaison: Act as the primary lead for relationships with authorities such as URA, Customs, Port Authorities, and Road Authorities to ensure seamless transit.
- Procurement & Vendor Strategy: Drive the sourcing lifecycle for logistics services, including vendor selection, SLA design, and rate negotiations.
- Fleet & Asset Stewardship: Oversee fleet support, including preventive maintenance coordination, fuel monitoring, and operational compliance.
- Performance Management: Lead daily reviews to eliminate bottlenecks and leverage data to improve throughput and team agility.
Requirements Mandatory Qualifications/Experience required Qualifications & Experience: - Experience: Minimum 5 years of proven experience in logistics and transport, specifically along the Mombasa Corridor.
- Technical Skills: Advanced mastery of management tools (Expert-level Excel, ERP systems, and tracking tools) with a commitment to absolute documentary rigor.
Soft Skills & Seniority: - Field Leadership: Ability to command respect from both internal teams and third-party subcontractors.
- Strategic Resilience: High capacity for adaptation and problem-solving within the regional geographic context.
- Ethics & Loyalty: Unwavering integrity in managing company assets and confidential information.
Languages: English is mandatory for coordinating with international customers & partners. French is not compulsory but is highly appreciated and would be a significant advantage.
