Background
The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
Job Purpose
To ensure the efficient operation, maintenance, and repair of electricity distribution systems to guarantee reliable power delivery. The Technician - O&M is responsible for performing routine inspections, troubleshooting faults, and executing repairs in compliance with safety standards and company procedures.
Impact
The role holder contributes significantly to maintaining network reliability, minimizing downtime, and enhancing customer satisfaction by ensuring the electricity distribution infrastructure operates efficiently.
Key Result Areas
Routine Maintenance
Perform regular inspections and preventive maintenance of electrical equipment and distribution lines.
Identify potential issues and take corrective actions to prevent system failures.
Fault Diagnosis and Repair
Troubleshoot faults in the distribution network and implement timely repairs.
Document faults and repair activities for future reference and analysis.
Operational Support
Support operations by monitoring system performance and responding to network incidents.
Assist in switching operations and system restorations during outages.
Compliance and Safety
Adhere to all safety protocols and industry standards during maintenance and repair activities.
Conduct job hazard assessments and ensure the use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
Record Keeping
Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, fault reports, and inventory usage.
Update maintenance logs and provide periodic reports to supervisors.
Stakeholder Engagement
Communicate effectively with supervisors, team members, and customers during maintenance and repair operations.
Address customer complaints related to network issues promptly and professionally.
Tools and Equipment Management

Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment for repair or replacement.
Emergency Response
Participate in emergency response teams to restore services during natural disasters or major outages.
Be available for on-call duties and rapid response to urgent network issues.
