MMU therefore invites applications from suitably qualified and skilled Ugandans for the following positions: - Job Purpose To conduct laboratory procedures, support research and maintain laboratory equipment and materials. Responsibilities or duties - Conduct laboratory experiments and routine biotechnology procedures.
- Prepare reagents, culture media, and laboratory solutions.
- Operate, clean, and maintain laboratory equipment and instruments.
- Support research activities through sample collection, processing, and data recording.
- Ensure compliance with laboratory safety, biosafety, and quality standards.
- Maintain accurate laboratory records, inventories, and documentation.
- Assist in training students and academic staff on laboratory procedures.
- Manage laboratory supplies and report equipment faults or shortages.
- Facilitate practical lessons for students to support the research, teaching, and learning programme.
- Perform any other official duties as may be assigned from time to time.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills) a) Qualifications - Honors Bachelor's Degree (first class or second class upper) in Biotechnology or Molecular Biology or Biochemistry or Microbiology from a recognized awarding institution.
- Should be registered with a professional organization where required.
- Excellent knowledge of Standard Operating Procedures for laboratories (ISO 13485).
- Demonstrated ability to prepare reagents, media, and laboratory solutions accurately.
- Should know specific techniques, tissue culture, and microbial handling.
b) Experience - One (1) year of laboratory experience or research support in an academic or research institution.
- Should have practical experience in molecular biology or biotechnology techniques.
c) Competences - Communication and presentation skills

- Flexibility and adaptability in a dynamic academic environment.
- Ability to work independently
