Job Title: Â Tech Lead and Senior Technical Developer

Job Summary: Â Â We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Technical Developer who will be responsible for overseeing the IT department and leading the Tech strategy for the Company. This role involves a blend of hands-on technical development and strategic leadership, ensuring the smooth functioning of all Tech operations within the company.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Tech Leadership
- Lead the design, development, and deployment of advanced software (Both Android & Web) solutions that support Kijani Forestry’s mission.
- Maintain the software applications, ensuring they meet the required standards for quality, performance, and security.
Tech Team Management
- Manage and mentor the tech team members, fostering a culture of collaboration, excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the tech team, providing guidance, performance management, and career development opportunities.
Technical Development
- Lead software development projects, including system architecture design, coding, testing, and deployment.
- Collaborate with other departments to assess Tech needs, propose solutions, and implement appropriate technologies.
- Oversee the development, customization, and integration of applications to support operational efficiency in agroforestry management.
- Ensure Maximum systems Uptime of all Tech systems, developing contingency plans for potential down time.
- Stay up-to-date with emerging information systems threats & establish strong security infrastructures to guard against current & future cyber threats.
Project Management
- Plan, manage, and execute Tech projects from concept ideation to roll out, ensuring project delivery within timelines and
- Lead the implementation and optimization of ERP systems and other specialized inhouse systems
Strategic Planning & Quality Assurance
- Collaborate with the senior management team to develop and execute the company’s technical roadmap.
- Contribute across the full development lifecycle and play a key role in making strategic decisions about technology innovations and architecture
- Implement best practices in coding, testing, and deployment to maintain high-quality software standards.
- Conduct code reviews and ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field. A Master’s degree is a plus.
- Minimum of 8 years of professional experience in software development & implementation
- At least 4 years in a leadership or managerial role within a technical team.
- Expertise in programming languages such as Python, JavaScript, or Java.
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud) and DevOps practices.
- Strong understanding of database systems (SQL and NoSQL databases).
- Excellent project management skills with experience in Agile/Scrum methodologies.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strategic thinker with a proactive approach to challenges.
- Passion for environmental sustainability and innovation.
- Knowledge of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) and remote sensing technologies will be an added advantage.
