- Ensure full compliance with all URA filing and payment deadlines.
- Monitor changes in tax laws and ensure timely implementation.
- Perform monthly reconciliation of tax control accounts (VAT, WHT, PAYE, Income Tax).
- Reconcile balances between Tally, filed tax returns, and URA statements.
- Investigate and resolve discrepancies promptly.
- Maintain clean and accurate tax ledgers at all times.
- Post monthly VAT apportionments accurately in Tally.
- Record payroll tax deductions and tax payments correctly and on time.
- Ensure completeness and accuracy of all tax-related entries.
- Maintain up-to-date tax schedules and supporting documentation.
- Conduct monthly tax health reviews of submitted returns and tax records.
- Identify potential tax exposures and compliance risks.
- Recommend corrective actions and amendments where necessary.
- Provide advisory support to management on tax implications of transactions.
- Maintain complete and well-organised tax files and supporting documentation.
- Prepare responses to URA queries in coordination with the Accounts Manager.
- Ensure all statutory records are audit-ready at all times.
QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE - Bachelorâs degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
- Minimum 2 yearsâ experience in tax practice, preferably from a reputable tax firm.
- Strong working knowledge of Ugandan tax laws and URA processes.
- Experience handling VAT, WHT, PAYE, and Income Tax compliance.
- Professional certification (accounting or tax) -at least level 2, is an added advantage
