The initiative works on biodiversity and ecosystem restoration, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and sustainable cities to promote resilient and healthy communities. Team members collaborate with local partners, schools, and community groups to drive environmental awareness and implement sustainable practices. The organization offers opportunities to contribute directly to climate action while supporting inclusive, youth-centered leadership in sustainability. Role Description The Sustainability Education Officer is a full-time, on-site role based in Kampala. The person in this role will design and deliver environmental education programs, workshops, and training sessions for schools, youth groups, and community stakeholders. Daily tasks include developing sustainability-focused curricula and learning materials, conducting outreach and awareness campaigns, and facilitating participatory learning activities on topics such as biodiversity, sustainable food systems, renewable energy, and eco-friendly urban living. The Sustainability Education Officer will collaborate with program teams to integrate education components into ongoing projects, collect feedback from participants, and prepare reports and presentations on educational outcomes. The role also involves maintaining strong communication with partners, supporting advocacy initiatives, and representing the organization at local events and forums. Qualifications - Strong background in Education and Curriculum Development, with the ability to design age-appropriate sustainability learning materials and training programs.
- Excellent Communication skills, including public speaking, facilitation, and the ability to engage diverse audiences in environmental topics.
- Demonstrated Analytical Skills and Research abilities to assess community needs, evaluate program impact, and incorporate evidence-based practices into educational initiatives.
- Knowledge of sustainability, climate change, biodiversity, and related environmental issues, preferably with experience in youth-focused or community education.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a youth-led, gender-responsive environment and to manage multiple activities on-site in Kampala.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with attention to detail in planning and documenting educational activities.
- Experience building partnerships with schools, community organizations, or local institutions is an added advantage.
- Ability to use travel to schools workshops using public transport, foot, or taxi, and carrying equipment or resources needed.
