Support Disabled Uganda (SDU) is dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, ensuring they lead fulfilling and independent lives.
Job Summary: The Patron of SDU serves as an honorary figurehead, lending credibility and support to our initiatives. While not involved in daily operations or governance, the Patron plays a pivotal role in:
- Advocacy: Elevating awareness about the challenges faced by individuals with disabilities and promoting SDU’s efforts to address these issues.
- Networking: Leveraging personal and professional connections to open doors, facilitate partnerships, and expand our reach within various communities.
- Fundraising Support: Enhancing fundraising efforts by endorsing campaigns, attending major events, and inspiring potential donors with their association.
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
- Public Representation: Act as the public face of SDU at significant events, media engagements, and community outreach programs.
- Event Participation: Attend and support key SDU events, including fundraisers, awareness campaigns, and stakeholder meetings.
- Strategic Counsel: Offer insights and advice based on expertise to assist SDU in achieving its strategic objectives.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Reputation: A well-respected individual with a strong public presence and a history of community involvement.
- Passion for Disability Advocacy: Demonstrated commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of individuals with disabilities.
- Influential Network: Extensive connections that can be mobilised to support SDU’s mission and activities.
- Communication Skills: Ability to effectively convey the importance of SDU’s work to diverse audiences.
Term & Commitment:
The Patron’s role is honorary and does not entail governance duties. The expected commitment includes attending major events and participating in select strategic discussions, with flexibility to accommodate the Patron’s availability.
