This role ensures transparent communication, manages expectations and grievances, and supports the effective implementation of socio-economic development initiatives. By facilitating community engagement and promoting sustainable outcomes, the coordinator helps build trust and long-lasting partnerships aligned with organizational policies and international standards. Responsibilities or duties - Carry out stakeholder engagement activities, including community meetings, consultations, and outreach programs.
- Act as a liaison between the organization and community stakeholders, ensuring inclusive participation, especially for vulnerable groups.
- Document stakeholder feedback and ensure timely follow-up actions.
- Manage a team of village Liaison officers (VLOs) on a day-to-day basis, including providing appropriate support, advice, coaching, compliance with HSE requirements, among others
- Implement grievance resolution mechanisms by recording, tracking, and escalating complaints as necessary. Communicate resolutions to stakeholders promptly and maintain accurate records of grievances and outcomes.
- Deliver/execute socio-economic initiatives across education, information, health& safety, and community livelihoods.
- Implement requirements for Human Rights compliance and any issues related to project-induced in-migration and gender aspects. Carry out related reporting requirements and data analysis in these areas, under the supervision of the Stakeholder Engagement Coordinator.
- Monitor engagement progress, provide updates, and ensure cultural sensitivity and inclusivity in program delivery.
- Ensure cultural sensitivity when working with diverse and vulnerable groups within the community.
- Prepare reports on community engagement activities, social performance outcomes and trends, for further management by team leaders.
- Participate in the development and utilization of communication materials such as newsletters, briefs, and updates for communities.
- Provide inputs for social performance and sustainability reporting, ensuring compliance with organizational standards and local regulations.
- Engage effectively with stakeholders and promote collaborative outcomes through mediation and participatory approaches.
- Implement and contribute to updating the EACOP Stakeholder Engagement Plan (SEP).
- Plan and manage workshops, roundtable and forum logistics including developing agendas, project plans, minute taking and production of reports.
- Collect data and ensure accurate documentation to support project management, reporting, and compliance with local regulations.
- Carry our other company duties as may be assigned by the team leaders.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills) - Bachelorâs degree in social sciences, Community Development, Communications, or a related field.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to facilitate dialogue and mediate conflicts.
- Knowledge of social performance frameworks and sustainability standards.
- Excellent organizational and documentation skills.
- Cultural sensitivity and adaptability.
Experience needed - 5 years of experience in social performance, community relations, or stakeholder engagement.
- Experience working with diverse cultural groups and vulnerable communities.
