The role entails SME credit origination of credit applications, to achieve profitable growth while maintaining credit risk within acceptable levels. Key Accountabilities (Duties and Responsibilities) Financial 25% - Support SME portfolio growth through timely and prudent credit analysis.
- Minimise credit losses through assessment of repayment capacity, collateral adequacy and risk mitigants.
- Reduce PAR, NPLs and impairment risk through early warning identification, covenant tracking and portfolio monitoring.
- Promote efficient credit processing by reducing rework, improving application quality and supporting faster turnaround times.
- Ensure credit recommendations protect the Bankâs capital, earnings and asset quality while supporting sustainable SME growth.
Internal Business Processes 40% - Conduct timely and independent SME credit analysis in line with Credit Risk Management Policy, risk appetite, delegated authority framework and regulatory requirements.
- Review SME credit applications for completeness, accuracy, financial strength, repayment capacity, cashflow viability and facility suitability.
- Evaluate sector-specific risks and cashflows across key SME sectors including education, health, real estate, manufacturing, trade, energy and business services.
- Support the 48-hour SME turnaround time through simplified templates, fast-track assessments and prompt escalation of gaps.
- Structure appropriate risk mitigants including collateral, guarantees, receivables assignments, insurance, repayment controls and covenant requirements.
- Prepare high-quality credit papers outlining borrower risk profile, facility purpose, repayment capacity, key risks, mitigants and approval conditions.
- Maintain strong maker-checker discipline by ensuring independence between analysis and approval and escalating policy exceptions appropriately.
- Monitor approved facilities through covenant tracking, excess monitoring, arrears reviews, renewals and post-disbursement follow-up.
- Support portfolio quality by identifying emerging risks, recommending remedial actions and contributing to portfolio reviews and watchlist reports.
- Maintain accurate records and audit trails for assessments, approvals, exceptions, covenants and monitoring actions.
- Collaborate with Business, Legal, Operations and Credit Administration to ensure facilities are properly structured, documented, disbursed and monitored.
Customer 15% - Identify credit risk training needs for business stakeholders and support development and delivery of training programs.
- Achieve agreed customer satisfaction benchmarks.
Learning and Growth 20% - Set and achieve individual and team development goals.
- Meet individual and team learning quota targets.
Job Specifications Academic: - Bachelorâs degree in Commerce, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, Economics, Statistics, Banking, or any other business-related field from a recognized institution.
- Additional training in credit analysis, financial statement analysis, SME lending, risk management, cashflow lending, collateral evaluation, or sector-based lending will be desirable.
Professional: - Professional qualification or part qualification in ACCA, CPA, CFA, Credit Management, Risk Management, Banking or Financial Analysis will be an added advantage.
