Background
Uganda Electricity Transmission Company Limited (UETCL) is a public Limited Company, fully owned by the Government of the Republic of Uganda and holds the following operational licences. System Operator, Operation of the High Voltage Transmission Grid, Bulk Power Supply, Import and Export of Power and; Public Infrastructure Provider (for ownership and operation of the Optic Fibre). Our Vision is: âTo be Eastern Africaâs Leading Electricity Transmission Company.â Our Mission is: âTo Buy, Transmit and Sell Reliable and Quality Bulk Power for Sustainable Regional Development.â UETCL invites applications from suitable and eligible candidates to fill the position of: Shift Supervisor (05) Network Operations & Maintenance Department Reports to Senior Operations Engineer
Job Purpose
The Position is located at the UETCL National control Center and the position holder shall provide leadership and operational support to shift team. The position holder shall work in shifts.
Key Result Areas
- Supervision of power system controllers on duty
- Monitor and support power system controllers for efficient frequency and voltage management
- Analyze system incidents and provide decision support to power system controllers
- Undertake real-time system analysis prior to undertaking shutdowns
- Monitor power exchanges to ensure delivery of scheduled DAM trade volumes and undertake intra-day market decisions based on real-time available generation and demand
- Review and ensure accurate database records at the end of shift
- Prepare shift report
Qualifications and Experience
- Must have a bachelors in Electrical engineering
- A minimum of 2 yearsâ experience in power system operations.
- Experience in use of SCADA systems is an added advantage.
- Strong Leadership and good interpersonal skills
- Report writing skills
- Ability to work in shifts and extended hours beyond normal working hours.
- Possess strong analytical and good communication skills
