UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda. Job Purpose To perform audits of engineering operations, including project management, asset management, and maintenance processes, ensuring compliance with internal policies, regulatory requirements, and technical standards. The role identifies risks, evaluates controls, and provides actionable recommendations to improve operational efficiency, governance, and safety in engineering activities. Impact The Engineering Internal Audit function strengthens governance and compliance within engineering operations through safety enhancements, reliability, efficiency in technical processes and project execution. They Identify and mitigates risks associated with engineering operations and infrastructure all the while developing junior team members through supervision and mentorship that enhances overall audit capacity. Key Result Areas - Conduct audits of engineering projects, processes, and maintenance activities
- Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, technical procedures, and safety measures.
- Identify risks related to engineering operations, including technical, safety, and operational risks.
- Recommend and follow up on corrective actions to mitigate identified risks
- Ensure compliance with engineering policies, regulatory requirements, and industry standards.
- Evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of technical workflows and processes.
- Supervise and guide Internal Auditors and Graduate Trainees in engineering-related audits.
- Provide training, mentorship, and feedback to junior team members.
- Prepare detailed audit reports with findings, risks, and recommendations for process improvement.
- Maintain accurate and comprehensive records of audit work performed.
- Identify opportunities for improvement in engineering processes and recommend best practices.
- Promote innovation and efficiency in technical operations.

Person Specifications Academic Qualifications - Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
- Registration and/or membership with recognized professional bodies i.e. Institute of Internal Auditors (IIA) and Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE) or its equivalent, ORHVS training and certification will be an added advantage.
Experience - Minimum of 4 years of experience in engineering auditing.
- Knowledge of asset management, maintenance processes, and engineering standards is a must.
- Experience in auditing or risk assessment within the utility or energy sector is preferred.
Competencies - Strong understanding of engineering operations, project management, and asset maintenance.
- Familiarity with safety standards, technical protocols, and regulatory requirements
- Ability to analyze technical data and processes to identify risks and inefficiencies.
- Strong critical thinking and attention to detail.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for audit reporting and stakeholder engagement.
- Ability to explain technical findings to non-technical stakeholders.
- Ability to supervise and mentor junior team members effectively.
