Job Overview: The Senior HSES Specialist uses best practices to solve work permitting HSES-related problems and uses discipline-specific knowledge to improve HSES Performance. They will act with a considerable degree of autonomy and have the ability to balance a field-based position and administrative duties. They are comfortable working in a dynamic environment and will act as a resource for colleagues with less experience and share their conceptual and practical expertise related to the HSES commissioning or operations discipline. Responsibilities Key Tasks and Responsibilities: - Focus on the coordination of field executed work during the commissioning phase with a focus on safe operational practices
- Carry out joint pre-activity site walks to view field equipment with subcontractors to verify its conditions and site environment as part of the commissioning process
- Check the contractor's work method statement, JSEA, and other supporting documents for the work scope
- Coach less experienced personnel on relevant HSE aspects of commissioning/operations
- Collaboration with the workforce to ensure requirements for safe execution of work are clearly understood and adhered to
- Provide HSES leadership to ensure project priorities of safety, quality, and schedule are achieved
- Check that all complementary/supporting documents, such as process, electrical, and mechanical isolations required, are available to ensure that the work can be performed safely
- Use a work permit tracking system for all permits issued on-site
- Gather all relevant information required to prepare the statistical reports, which are needed to monitor and to analyze the activities
- Facilitate commissioning HSE training
- Support the implementation, enforcement, and verification of compliance with all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure employees understand their responsibility and authority to effectively implement the requirements of all McDermott policies and procedures
- Ensure the timely completion of all mandatory training
Qualifications Essential Qualifications and Education: - Degree/Diploma (or equivalent combination of education and experience) in HSES related field
- 4 years of experience in the Energy Industry with some period spent in commissioning or operations in a hydrocarbon facility
- Advanced understanding of local and international HSES laws, codes, and regulations
- Trained and experienced ISO standards lead auditor (9001, 14001, or 45001)
- Ability to work as a team member as well as act as a team leader
- Maintain key competencies associated with the HSES function
- Statistical and data analysis ability
- Communication and presentation skills, both written and spoken
- Computer literate in Microsoft programs: Word, Access, PowerPoint, Excel, Project
