UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda. Responsibilities or duties Facilities & Estate Management (Core Function) - Lead the management of all company facilities, including offices, substations, yards, and staff accommodation.
- Oversee company estates (land, buildings, and housing units), ensuring proper utilization, maintenance, and security.
- Develop and implement maintenance plans (preventive and corrective) for all properties and infrastructure.
- Manage tenancy/occupancy of company properties, including allocation, inspections, and handover/takeover processes.
- Maintain a comprehensive and up- to- date estate/property register.
- Ensure compliance with land laws, lease agreements, and property regulations.
- Supervise and manage service providers (cleaning, security, landscaping, waste management, and maintenance contractors).
- Prepare and manage facilities and estate budgets, ensuring cost control and value for money.
- Coordinate renovations, refurbishments, and infrastructure improvement projects.
- Ensure compliance with occupational health, safety, and environmental standards across all facilities.
- Liaise with local authorities, utility providers, landlords, and regulators on property-related matters.
- Identify opportunities for optimization, redevelopment, or disposal of underutilized assets.
Asset & Logistics Management - Maintain an accurate and updated asset register for all company property, furniture, and equipment.
- Ensure proper asset tagging, tracking, and periodic verification.
- Coordinate procurement of facilities-related goods and services in liaison with the Procurement Unit.
- Oversee inventory and stores related to facilities management.
- Manage transport and logistics support for administrative operations where applicable.
Compliance & Risk Management - Ensure adherence to occupational health and safety standards across all facilities and estates.
- Support internal and external audits relating to facilities, estates, and HR functions.
- Identify and mitigate risks related to property management, safety, and asset security.
Leadership & Supervision - Supervise facilities, administrative, and estate staff.
- Manage performance, training, and development of team members.
- Enforce discipline, accountability, and high service delivery standards.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills) Academic Qualifications: - A master's degree in Human Resource Management or a related field.
- Bachelor's Degree in Estate Management, Human Resource, Civil Engineering, Facilities Management, Business Administration, or related field.
- Postgraduate qualification in Estate Management, HR, or Administration is an added advantage.
- Must be a registered Member with The Human Resource Managers Association of Uganda (HRMAU)
Experience needed Experience: - A Minimum of 5-7 years' experience, with at least 3 years in facilities/estate management at a supervisory level.
