The Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) is a limited liability company incorporated in Uganda under the Companies Act. UEDCL owns the 33KV and below voltage electricity distribution networks. The company sales and distributes electricity in Uganda as per ERA License issued on 31 December 2024 covering over 135 political districts, operates a modern pole plant at Lugogo, and executes key rural electrification schemes on behalf of the Government of Uganda.
UEDCL is seeking to recruit qualified, competent and highly motivated Ugandans to fill the following positions;
Job Purpose:
The Senior Connections Officer - Quality Assurance is responsible for ensuring that all connection works meet approved technical standards, regulatory requirements, and organizational quality benchmarks. The role safeguards the integrity, safety, and reliability of connection installations through inspections, audits, process improvement, and continuous monitoring of field activities.
Responsibilities or duties:
- Conducting routine and targeted inspections of connection materials, installations, to verify compliance with approved regulatory standards, and safety procedures. Identifying non- conformities and ensuring corrective actions are implemented.
- Monitoring quality of works and recommending improvement measures, analysing recurring installation defects and implementing preventive strategies while promoting best practices in connection delivery.
- Evaluating workmanship of contractors and field teams, providing feedback and technical guidance to improve installation quality and conducting contractor performance assessments.
- Preparing quality inspection reports and compliance summaries with accurate records of audits, findings, and corrective actions.
- Identifying safety risks associated with connection works, supporting enforcement of safety standards and incident prevention, and participating in investigations of quality- related failures.
- Training of field staff and contractors on quality standards and procedures thereby promoting a culture of accountability and continuous improvement.
Expected Output:
- 100% connection compliance rate with Independent Verification Agency reports
- Reduction in material and installation failures
- Timely re-imbursement of connection funds
- Integrity and safety compliance of connection processes.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills):
Academic Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related technical discipline.
- Membership to recognized professional bodies such as UIPE and ERB is an added advantage.
Experience needed:
- Minimum 5 years' experience in utility operations, inspections, or quality assurance.
- Experience supervising technical field work is desirable.
Competencies:
- Strong understanding of technical standards and QA processes
- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Inspection and audit capability
- Communication and reporting skills
- Integrity and accountability
