As we grow to expand our impact to protect 500 million people globally from violence by 2030, we are seeking to recruit a SECURITY DRIVER- KAMPALA. Job Summary: The security driver ensures safe, timely and secure transportation of personnel and materials while supporting organizational safety and security protocols. This role ensures operational readiness by maintaining situational awareness and conducting thorough vehicle inspections, accurate documentation, and proactive communication to uphold compliance and mitigate risk. Key Responsibilities: - Review and maintain vehicle condition, safety equipment, and trip documentation to ensure compliance and operational readiness.
- Provide and relay timely updates on travel plans, security alerts, and logistical requirements to relevant stakeholders.
- Complete and record trip logs, maintenance reports, and fuel usage accurately for monitoring and reporting purposes.
- Conduct and document routine vehicle inspections and safety checks to prevent hazards and support secure operations.
- Inform and explain organizational safety and security guidelines to passengers to promote awareness and adherence and follow up on all security events in accordance with IJM guidelines.
Requirements: - Ability to review, process, and maintain transportation and security documentation accurately using digital tools.
- Skilled in conducting vehicle inspections and basic troubleshooting to ensure operational safety.
- Strong capability to communicate and relay safety protocols and travel updates clearly to diverse audiences.
- Proficiency in scheduling and coordinating routes and logistical requirements with attention to detail.
- Effective engagement and collaboration skills to support security operations and respond promptly to emerging needs.
Education & Experience: - A diploma in any related field
- A certificate in defensive driving
- A certificate in motor vehicle mechanics an added advantage
- A minimum of five (5) years of experience as a professional driver with no incidents.
- Possesses a valid driverâs license (with at least B, C1, D1 classes) with no incidents and experience driving both manual and automatic vehicles on rough terrain.
- Demonstrable experience driving long distances and for long hours.
- Fluency in English both written and spoken. Working knowledge of local languages an added advantage.
- Good computer literacy with working knowledge of MS Word, Outlook, and Excel.
- Knowledge of geography and roads of Kampala and surrounding areas.
- Understanding of repairs and maintenance requirements for four-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Understanding of security protocols and procedures, preferably with a law enforcement agency or NGO background.
- Exceptional driving skills, including the ability to drive in different weather and traffic conditions.
- Excellent time management skills to meet pick-up and drop-off deadlines.
