The objective is to ensure security at all company premises where CCTV cameras have been installed and discourage trespassers. A monitoring system is only as good as its equipment, so one of the first things that a Security Controller shall do when starting a work day is an equipment check. This includes verifying that all cameras are broadcasting, and that all the video storage facilities â be they videotape decks or computer servers â are online and functioning. The operator must check to see that fresh that digital drive capture systems have enough free space available for the next 24 hours. Responsible to: The Security Controller (Day and Night) reports to the Security Supervisor. Key Duties responsibilities The Security Controller â Day and Night shall be responsible for, but not limited to, the following: - Continuous management and monitoring of CCTV screens / systems and associated specialist security equipment.
- Operating electronic surveillance equipment (CCTV) to monitor Company activities and personnel in all departments. Monitor any suspicious activities such as theft and report to the Safety and Security Manager.
- Approve, guide and assign security personal to patrol areas of the Company premises covered by CCTV cameras. Guide security manning entry and exit gates.
- Diligently manage and maintain records and reference materials including Health & Safety records, Incident Forms and the Site Occurrence Book.
- Ensuring strict compliance to the Data / information Protection Act and associated regulations.
- Manage and monitor all other access control systems.
- Manage and monitor / policing of site radio systems.
- Investigate suspicious or unethical practices and report to the Safety and Security Manager with the findings.
- Enter and retrieve information from computer database and hard copy files in order to utilize such information in surveillance activities.
- Adhere to all regulatory, company, and department policies and procedures.
- Prepare written reports and logs.
- Answer phone and radio calls from employees and security personnel.
- Enforce security regulations and sure that all employees follow the Companyâs policies and procedures.
- Review footage and create reports for any suspicious activity on Company premises.
- Secures vital video footage for management and law enforcement utilization on backed-up network drive.
B. Requirements: - Attend both formal and informal training sessions as determined by the Security Supervisor.
- Must be able to work harmoniously with your co-workers, while maintaining a positive image of the company in work and personal discussions.
- Must wear a clean uniform and maintain yourself with a high standard of personal hygiene and a customer friendly appearance.
- Must be honest and possess high moral and ethical standards in carrying out duties.
- Must possess a high degree of personal initiative and ability to manage multiple tasks at once.
- Must abide by company and government rules, regulations and policies in the work place.
- Must possess excellent oral and written communication and listening skills.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to take a task from start to finish without supervision.
- Must be willing to work either day or night shift and in rare circumstances both day and night in the event a colleague is unable to attend duty.
- Must be willing to work on Sundays and public holidays as needed.
C. Physical Demands: - Physical fattiness
- Must be able to keep awake and alert at all times
- Must be able to stand for up to 8 hours straight.
- Able to safely climb ladders.
D. Work Environment: - Exposure to a combination of normal office and outside environments.
- Regularly exposed to air-conditioned environment.
E. Essential qualifications: - Basics security-oriented disciplines.
- Strong observational skills.
- Intelligent understanding of human behaviour, monitoring and surveillance of suspect individuals logging and reporting incidents in line with site / company polices.
- An investigative nature.
- Computer competence.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Team player.
