Responsibilities or duties
Maintain an accurate and up-to-date library resources catalogue and information services system in alignment with curriculum requirements and student learning needs. Organize, and maintain print, digital, audio-visual, and electronic library resources. Assist students and staff in the effective utilisation and evaluation of information resources and services. Provide reference, research, and information literacy support to students and staff. Plan and implement the literacy promotion strategy and curriculum support. Collaborate with teachers to integrate library resources and research skills into classroom learning. Support the development of information literacy, critical thinking, and independent research skills. Maintain library administration and systems management. Conduct library inventory and ensure relevant resources as required. Train library assistants, volunteers, and student aides where applicable. Maintain a safe, welcoming, organized, and conducive learning environment within the library.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)
The applicant for the role should hold at least a degree in Library Science or related field from a recognised university. Knowledge of library policies, procedures and technologies. Strong collaboration skills with a proactive, goal-oriented approach. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision. Proficiency in computer applications. Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills. Strong organizational planning skills.
Experience needed
A minimum of two years' experience in a school setting.
