Responsibilities or duties Key Responsibilities: Reports to: Program Coordinator Key Result Areas: Project Implementation. - Work closely with the different pillars of the SRM Activity and departments to design and undertake operational research to ensure robust evidence-based data for the design of SBCC strategy.
- Liaise with key units to design SBCC strategy to ensure tangible change among target beneficiaries under the SRM Programming across board
- In liaison with project participants and departments like the Livelihoods and environment, MEAL develop key SBCC activities and design communication for development (C4D) and messaging content.
- Ensure the design, development, execution and evaluation of effective SBCC capacity strengthening activities to both the Project staff, beneficiaries and other stakeholders within the areas of operation.
- Jointly plan and train key program stakeholders including community structures (CBFs, VHTs, Care groups CMC's, FMC's, Ushers, Porters, Scoopers and RWC's), health workers and religious and traditional leaders to disseminate messages and engage communities in key SBCC activities.
- Share new knowledge and best practices in SBCC and contribute to the knowledge base through participation in local, regional and global partner and technical networks, scientific forums and other knowledge-sharing platforms.
- Conduct qualitative surveys to track and assess reach and effectiveness of messages in achieving the program objectives.
- Support public relations and appreciation to the component on social behaviour change communication in regards to livelihoods programming, and gender roles community expectations
- Train and strengthen capacity of WVU project staff, mainstream project partners, Community based facilitators, volunteers and community structure on gender and disability inclusion in food programming.
- Capacity building of programme staff, community structures and co-partner that WV will work with due to the Grand bargain (localization agenda) and key stakeholders on protection, and Gender, Adult and child safe guarding, PSEA.
- Responsible for delivery of gender equality and social inclusion training to project staff
- Provide technical support and mentorship to the Protection and Gender Assistant and the Co-Partner staff to enhance their knowledge on implementation of all gender, protection and disability inclusion activities within the program.
- Develop and facilitate gender, protection and disability inclusion components in training materials, distribution messages, dissemination meetings and other project tools and resources including PDM and other assessment tools.
- Ensure accessibility of gender, protection and disability inclusion IEC materials developed for the food assistance program and other programs within the response.
Coordination and engagements at Zonal, settlement level and sector specific technical working groups - Take lead and Co-ordinates activities within the SBCC/Gender and protection docket through advocacy and information sharing about the project including partnership liaison.
- Coordinate with protection partners and CP staff to plan field activities or referrals for cases at FDPs.
- Take part in the routine coordination meetings and provide information about the Fora on the expectations and how Mindset change should be tackled across all programming for higher results
- Follows up the project monitoring system, updates information concerning the progress of the project, periodically documents and reports the results of the activities
- Assists in the planning, coordination, and documentation of meetings, workshops, seminars and other activities of the project, focusing on Social Behavior Change
- Observe topics directly related to the project through evaluation by the press, direct dialog, forum participation, public hearings, seminars, etc.
- Supports short-term consultants and experts of the project to fulfil their tasks during their assignment nation.
- Represent World Vision Uganda at the monthly & quarterly gender based violence and child protection working groups hosted by UNFPA, UNHCR, UNDP and UNICEF at settlement, district and national level to share progress, challenges and appropriate follow up plans.
- Participate in and be part of the Gender community of practice in WVU. participate in periodic GEDSI CoP
- Coordinate and work with WFP in gender, protection and disability related assessments, baselines, surveys.
- Mainstreaming gender, protection and disability inclusion activities in field implementation.
- Ensure mainstreaming of gender, protection, disability and social inclusion in food assistance program implementation during and after distributions and ensure all GBV, PSEA including Adult and child safeguarding issues are handled on time, referrals done with follow ups to make sure all cases are closed.
- Conduct regularly gender, protection and disability analysis, community mapping and safety audits to identify and address access and financial barriers to childrenâsâ and communityâs protection need in the program and other projects within the response.
- With support from the Programme Manager, formulate key gender, protection and disability messages and targets from lessons learned, assessments, research and evidence gained through project implementation.
Gender Assessments and program design and budgeting. - Carry out partnerâs capacity assessments for partners and continuous monitoring assessments during implementation.
- Support in gender, protection and disability inclusion assessments within the program/response.
- Ensuring that all proposals being designed within the response are gender and disability inclusive.
- Support in gander, protection and disability inclusion data collection, analyses and reports in KAP study, need assessments and evaluation.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills) Minimum qualifications, experience: - At least three yearsâ experience working with communities facilitating development.
- Knowledge and experience in Livelihoods, health, education and behavioral change communication is highly required
- Experience in developing and implementing behavioral change communications, focusing on creating demand for community and facility-based health services
- Prior experience working with local youth organizations and businesses in the private sector.
- Prior experience working in partnerships between international NGOs and local partners
- Additional Certificate courses in IASC Guidelines and key training packages preferred (Caring for [Child] Survivors of Sexual Violence, psychological First Aid in Emergencies, CPiE Minimum Standards, and GBV IMS, International Humanitarian & Human Rights Law Foundations, etc), is an added advantage.
