Position Summary As a Registered Nurse at AsOne Ministries, your role goes beyond routine clinical care. You will be responsible for providing safe, competent, and compassionate nursing care to patients at the AsOne clinic, supporting the Clinical Officer in diagnosis and treatment, and delivering excellent, Christ-centered customer care to every patient, caregiver, and community member you serve. You are expected to uphold the professional code of conduct for nurses as set by the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council. Key Responsibilities Clinical & Patient Care Responsibilities - Receive, triage, and assess patients, prioritizing care based on the urgency and severity of their condition.
- Take and record vital signs, patient histories, and other clinical observations accurately.
- Administer medications, injections, immunizations, and treatments as prescribed by the Clinical Officer or Medical Officer.
- Provide wound care, dressing changes, and other basic clinical procedures.
- Support antenatal, postnatal, child health, immunization, and family planning services.
- Assist in emergency care and stabilization of patients, escalating and referring cases appropriately.
- Monitor patients' progress and response to treatment, reporting any changes promptly to the Clinical Officer.
- Educate patients and caregivers on disease prevention, medication use, nutrition, and self-care practices.
- Provide holistic care that integrates physical, emotional, and spiritual support, including prayer with patients where appropriate and welcomed.
- Ensure strict adherence to infection prevention and control protocols, including safe handling and disposal of sharps and clinical waste.
Administrative Responsibilities - Maintain accurate, complete, and confidential patient records, including nursing notes, treatment charts, and vaccination records.
- Complete and submit daily, weekly, and monthly nursing reports, statistics, and returns to the Clinic Manager and relevant health authorities (e.g., HMIS/DHIS2 reporting).
- Monitor and manage stock levels of medicines, vaccines, and medical/nursing supplies; participate in ordering, inventory checks, and expiry-date tracking.
- Ensure proper use, sterilization, maintenance, and safe storage of nursing equipment and instruments.
- Support the scheduling and coordination of patient appointments, home visits, referrals, and follow-up care.
- Ensure compliance with clinic policies, national health regulations, licensing requirements, and data protection standards.
- Assist in the preparation for and follow-up on inspections, audits, and visits by health authorities or partners.
Customer Care & Stakeholder Relations - Welcome and attend to every patient with warmth, respect, dignity, and patience, regardless of background or circumstance.
- Communicate clearly and compassionately with patients and caregivers about their care, procedures, and next steps, ensuring they understand and feel heard.
- Maintain a calm, reassuring, and professional demeanor, especially with anxious, distressed, or vulnerable patients and their families.
- Manage patient flow during triage and treatment to minimize waiting times and reduce patient and caregiver frustration.
- Handle patient and caregiver concerns, complaints, and feedback promptly, empathetically, and professionally, escalating where necessary.
- Protect patient confidentiality and privacy at all times, in line with nursing ethics and data protection standards.
- Follow up with patients and families after treatment, discharge, or referral to ensure continuity of care and satisfaction.
- Build and maintain respectful, professional relationships with colleagues, clinic management, suppliers, donors, and visiting partners as key stakeholders in the clinic's work.
- Represent the clinic professionally and courteously when engaging with district health officials, community leaders, and partner organizations.
- Provide clear, timely, and respectful communication to all stakeholders, including families, referral facilities, and community health volunteers, to support smooth coordination of care.

Collaborative & Team Duties - Work closely with the Clinical Officer, midwives, lab technicians, pharmacy staff, and community health workers to ensure coordinated patient care.

- Mentor and support nursing aides, interns, and volunteers as needed.
- Engage with local health facilities, district health offices, and partner organizations to strengthen referral pathways and community health programs.
- Participate in staff devotions, fellowships, and outreach initiatives as part of the AsOne community.
Professional Development - Reflect on nursing practice and pursue continuous personal and professional growth.
- Attend continuing nursing education (CNE) sessions and maintain up-to-date licensing and certification.

What We're Looking For Required Qualifications & Experience - Education: Certificate or Diploma in Nursing from a recognized and accredited institution.
- Registration: Valid registration and practicing license with the Uganda Nurses and Midwives Council.
- Experience: Minimum of 2 years of nursing experience, preferably in a primary care, rural, or community health setting.
- Subject Proficiency: Solid understanding of general nursing procedures, maternal and child health, and common communicable and non-communicable diseases prevalent in the local context.
Technical Competencies - Proficient in patient triage, basic clinical procedures, and medication administration.
- Strong record-keeping, reporting, and basic health information systems (e.g., HMIS/DHIS2) skills.
- Sound knowledge of infection prevention and control, and safe medication and supply management.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong customer care orientation.
