About the Role
YSAT is recruiting a Protection Lead to provide technical leadership and oversight for protection activities under its OCHA-funded Refugee Response Programme â leading community-based protection, referrals, GBV/MHPSS awareness, accountability to affected populations, and protection monitoring across three settlements.
Recruitment is contingent upon confirmation of funding by UNOCHA's Uganda Humanitarian Fund.
Key Responsibilities
Lead planning and implementation of protection activities including community mobilisation, protection awareness, peaceful coexistence, GBV/MHPSS awareness, and identification of protection risks
Coordinate and strengthen community-based protection mechanisms with RWCs, religious/cultural leaders, and community protection actors
Lead identification and referral of vulnerable individuals, GBV survivors, and persons with specific needs through established referral pathways
Supervise three Project Assistants â Protection across Rhino Camp, Imvepi, and Bidibidi
Represent YSAT in settlement-level protection coordination forums with OPM, UNHCR, and humanitarian partners
Prepare accurate monthly and quarterly programme reports and document lessons learned and success stories
Requirements
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work, Development Studies, Human Rights, International Law, Community Development, Refugee Studies, or related Social Sciences; Post-Graduate qualification is an added advantage
Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in protection programming within humanitarian, refugee, or displacement settings
Demonstrated experience in Community-Based Protection, child protection, GBV risk mitigation, PSEA, safeguarding, and accountability to affected populations
Experience supervising field staff and working with community structures, government authorities, UN agencies, and humanitarian partners
Prior experience working with Refugee-Led Organizations is a requirement
