JOB DETAILS: Job Summary The Project Officer – Livelihoods will be responsible for implementing sector-specific activities aimed at improving family-based enterprises and income levels for beneficiaries. The role emphasizes environmentally friendly business initiatives and financial inclusion to empower target groups. The officer will conduct needs assessments, support capacity building, and oversee the management of income-generating activities in alignment with project goals and budget provisions. Key Responsibilities 1. Project Implementation: • Conduct business needs assessments to identify suitable livelihood interventions for target beneficiaries. • Facilitate the establishment and strengthening of Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLA) to promote financial inclusion. • Support business development among beneficiaries by providing training on financial literacy, entrepreneurship, and income-generating activities (IGA). • Liaise with Local Government specialists to deliver capacity-building initiatives focused on livelihoods and economic empowerment. • Design and conduct enterprise training sessions to maximize returns through value addition and effective market participation. • Develop mechanisms to manage revolving funds in beneficiary groups to scale livelihoods interventions. • Facilitate business planning processes for beneficiaries and offer mentorship for women and youth to ensure business sustainability. 2. Monitoring and Reporting: • Monitor and supervise the delivery of VSLA services, ensuring compliance with established methodologies. • Develop work plans and budgets to support project implementation. • Prepare and submit timely reports highlighting project performance, challenges, and achievements. 3. Capacity Building and Coaching: • Provide hands-on coaching, mentoring, and feedback to beneficiary groups. • Organize regular field visits to monitor the performance of income-generating activities. 4. Administrative Duties: • Maintain accurate records and data for project activities and interventions. • Ensure all activities align with project goals, budgets, and donor requirements. Qualifications and Experience • Education: Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Business Administration, Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field. • Additional Training: Rural Development, Women and Youth Economic Empowerment is an advantage. • Experience: o At least 5 years of experience in community-based livelihoods projects. o Expertise in working with vulnerable children and families. o Experience with VSLA and entrepreneurship initiatives. • Skills: o Proficiency in community engagement and project monitoring. o Strong knowledge of gender-sensitive development approaches. o Ability to ride a motorcycle and fluency in Lusoga and Luganda.
