We are looking for a dynamic, enthusiastic and highly qualified person to fill the position of Project Forest Officer. Reports to: Project Manager Supervises: None Location: Kagadi Job Summary The purpose of this role is to support the Project team in the implementation of actions related to the Natural Forest Regeneration for Enhanced Carbon Absorption Project in the Albertine Rift landscape in liaison with the project partners and in consultation with the Project Manager. In this regard, the Project Forest Officer will: ⢠Prepare and implement activity work plans and budgets in line with WWF UCO project guidelines. ⢠Coordinate training and capacity building sessions for targeted groups in the project landscape in line with WWF UCO project guidelines and project documentation. ⢠Work with the Civil Society Organizations(CSOs) and other community groups to deliver on agreed upon workplans and activity plans ensuring integrity and accountability for resources. ⢠Provide technical support in forest restoration, afforestation and nature-based enterprise development for improved livelihoods to selected groups. ⢠Implement advocacy and awareness raising activities through sensitization meetings at various levels with key partners in line with the WWF project guidelines ⢠Implement the project's monitoring and evaluation plan, ensuring compliance, supporting evaluations, and documenting best practices and lessons learned based on the established performance indicators in accordance with M&E guidelines. ⢠Prepare and submit monthly activity reports to key stakeholders in line with WWF guidelines. Required Qualifications and Experience The ideal candidate should possess a bachelorâs degree in forestry, Environment, Natural Resources, or Agriculture. They should be familiar with the Bugoma-Kagombe forestry landscape and should have a good understanding of landscape restoration, biodiversity conservation, and livelihood improvements. A minimum of 5 years of cumulative work experience in the forestry, environment, or natural resources sector within Uganda is required. Proven experience in community driven project implementation with a key focus on landscape restoration is required for this role. The candidate should demonstrate a good understanding of environment and forestry related issues in Uganda, with a specific focus on Forest Landscape Restoration and Carbon markets processes. Experience in civil society organizational capacity development, communication, and mobilisation advocacy for forestry and related issues is a must. The role requires the candidate to be detail-oriented and possess strong conceptual, analytical, and problem-solving skills, along with excellent oral and written communication, networking, and interpersonal abilities. They should be a team player with the ability to multi-task and work under limited supervision. Fluency in English and Runyakitara is required.
