About the Role Bamzee Engineering is seeking a competent and detail-oriented Project Site Civil Supervisor to oversee civil works on infrastructure projects, with a focus on electricity transmission and distribution substation civil infrastructure. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that site civil works are executed to specification, on schedule, within budget, and in compliance with quality and safety standards. Qualifications and Requirements - Higher Diploma in Civil Engineering (a Bachelorâs Degree in Civil Engineering is an added advantage)
- Minimum of 5 years' hands-on experience in project site supervision
- Experience in supervision of civil infrastructure works for Electricity Transmission or Distribution Substations is an added advantage
- Registered as a Graduate Member with the Uganda Institution of Professional Engineers (UIPE), and actively pursuing registration with the Engineers Registration Board (ERB)
- Willingness and ability to travel and be deployed to project sites anywhere in Uganda
- Valid driving permit is an added advantage
- Proficiency in relevant software (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Project, MS Office) is an added advantage
Duties and Responsibilities - Supervise day-to-day civil works on site, ensuring construction activities conform to approved drawings, specifications, and project schedules.
- Interpret engineering drawings, designs, and specifications, and translate them into practical, on-site construction guidance for the workforce.
- Monitor and enforce compliance with quality assurance and quality control (QA/QC) standards throughout all phases of civil works.
- Supervise setting-out, excavation, foundation works, concrete works, formwork, reinforcement, masonry, drainage, fencing, and other civil works related to substation and transmission/distribution infrastructure.
- Coordinate and supervise site labourers, artisans, and subcontractors to ensure efficient workflow and productivity.
- Conduct regular site inspections and prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports for submission to the Project Manager/Site Engineer.
- Identify and promptly report any deviations, defects, delays, or non-conformances, and recommend corrective actions.
- Ensure strict adherence to Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies and procedures on site, and promote a safety-first culture among site personnel.
- Monitor and manage the use of construction materials, tools, and equipment on site to minimize wastage and ensure accountability.
- Liaise with clients, consultants, contractors, and other stakeholders on-site regarding project progress, technical clarifications, and site instructions.
- Maintain accurate site records including site diaries, material delivery records, test results, and as-built information.
- Participate in site meetings and provide technical input on civil works progress, challenges, and risk mitigation.
- Ensure that all civil works comply with relevant Ugandan construction codes, standards, and regulatory requirements, including UIPE/ERB guidelines where applicable.
- Support the preparation of measurement sheets, work completion certificates, and other documentation required for project billing and close-out.
- Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the Project Manager or Management, consistent with the role.
