UBF works with government, civil society, private sector and international partners to protect Ugandaâs rich natural heritage through innovative financing mechanisms, grants management, and strategic conservation programmes. About the Role UBF is seeking a passionate, strategic, and results-driven Programs Manager to provide overall leadership in fundraising and the design, implementation, and management of UBFâs conservation programmes. The successful candidate will ensure delivery of high-impact biodiversity initiatives that align with UBFâs strategic framework, strengthen partnerships, and enhance sustainability and innovation in conservation programming. Key Responsibilities - Lead fundraising, resource mobilization, donor engagement and partnerships management for sustainable financing and conservation program growth.
- Provide strategic oversight, leadership and coordination of all UBF programme activities.
- Lead the conceptualization, development and monitoring of UBF programmes in line with the organizational strategy.
- Oversee budgeting, financial performance and programme implementation to ensure efficiency and accountability.
- Ensure quality assurance in programme design, reporting and donor compliance.
- Lead institutional and partner capacity building, mentorship and staff performance management.
- Oversee monitoring, evaluation and learning systems to strengthen impact assessment.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder partnerships with government, NGOs, private sector, and development partners.
- Represent UBF in national and international forums on biodiversity and sustainable financing.
- Staff supervision, coaching and mentoring.
Qualifications and Experience - A Master of Science degree in Natural Resources Management, Biodiversity Conservation, Forestry, Ecology, or related field.
- Minimum of 15 yearsâ experience, preferably with an NGO in conservation or related field.
- At least 10 years of conservation practice at senior management level in Uganda.
- Strong knowledge of biodiversity conservation issues and sustainable biodiversity financing mechanisms.
- Proven expertise in programme development, grant proposal writing, project management and donor reporting.
- Proven experience in raising financial resources for nature conservation.
- Demonstrated experience in mobilizing private sector financing for biodiversity conservation.
- Proven expertise in managing Civil Society partners in nature conservation.
- Demonstrated experience working with government agencies; civil society, the private sector, and development partners.
- Experience in staff management, team building and performance leadership.
- Excellent communication, analytical and strategic planning skills.
- Previous experience working with development partners is added advantage
- Previous experience in designing and managing large, multi-institutional and complex biodiversity conservation projects.
