The Programme Monitoring & Improvement Coordinator will play a critical role in ensuring projects align with donor requirements, expected outputs, and strategic outcomes. Working closely with project teams, the Country Director, Knowledge Leadership (KL) team, and Programme Monitoring & Improvement Advisors, the Coordinator will provide technical support to the field teams in designing, coordinating, and implementing robust monitoring frameworks and systems. This role will be offered on one (1) year fixed term contract and will be based in Kampala, Uganda. This advert closes on 2nd June 2026. Key Responsibilities include - Coordinate and oversee project monitoring activities across the Uganda portfolio.
- Support the development of theories of change, results frameworks, and monitoring plans.
- Ensure projects align with donor requirements, expected outputs, and outcomes.
- Manage the collection, analysis, and interpretation of project monitoring data.
- Conduct field monitoring visits to assess project progress and performance.
- Track key milestones, outputs, and project deliverables against work plans.
- Strengthen and adapt monitoring tools, systems, and quality assurance processes.
- Support implementing partners with monitoring, reporting, and capacity strengthening.
- Ensure timely and high-quality routine progress reporting from project teams and partners.
- Contribute to annual work planning and budgeting processes.
- Prepare and review donor and internal performance reports.
- Support learning, dissemination of findings, and programme improvement initiatives.
- Collaborate closely with the Country Director, project teams, Programme Monitoring & Improvement Advisors, and the Knowledge Leadership (KL) team.
About you The ideal candidate will be a proactive and analytical professional with experience in monitoring, evaluation, accountability, and learning (MEAL) within international development programmes. You will have strong experience in project monitoring, reporting, data analysis, and using insights to improve programme performance, particularly within market-based projects. You will possess excellent organisational, technical, and communication skills, with proficiency in statistical and data analysis tools such as SPSS, Stata, R, Python, Power BI, and Tableau, as well as electronic data collection platforms including SurveyCTO, Kobo Collect, and ODK. A Bachelorâs degree in a relevant field is required, while professional certifications in MEAL, project management, or data analytics are an advantage. Fluency in English and willingness to travel regularly to field locations are essential. About our offer The starting gross salary on offer for this role is from UGX 63,781,560 gross per annum, depending on experience. Working Conditions All of our positions are based in one or more of GAINâs designated offices as stated on our job advertisements. Successful candidates will be based in one of GAINâs country offices and must have the existing right to live and work within a reasonably commutable distance of the relevant city / cities in which the role is advertised.
