About Organisation:
The Consortium for Enhancing University Responsiveness to Agribusiness Development (CURAD) is a public-private Partnership founded in 2012 by Makerere University, NUCAFE, and NARO. It supports farmers, agribusiness startups. and young entrepreneurs by fostering innovation, productivity, and leadership in the agricultural sector. CURAD serves as an agribusiness innovation incubator to create jobs and improve incomes.
CURAD is part of a consortium implementing the Strengthening Agribusiness Youth Employment (SAYE), led by Heifer Project International in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation. The project aims to improve the socio-economic well-being of 250,000 youth (70% women, 3% with disabilities) In Uganda’s Busoga sub-region by 2029, focusing on skills development, market access, finance, and enabling environments. CURAD specifically delivers skills development and youth empowerment in decision-making.
Job Summary: Â Â The Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing and implement marketing strategies that support the startups and agribusiness within the incubation programme to promote the organization’s brand, products, and services. This role involves building brand visibility, planning campaigns, creating content, analyzing market trends, enhancing market access, and fostering relationships with stakeholders to drive growth and awareness
Key Duties and Responsibilities:
Marketing Strategy Development:
- Design and implement comprehensive marketing strategies tailored to the needs of the incubation program and its startups.
- Assist in creating and executing marketing plans that align with organizational goals.
- Conduct market research to identify trends, customer needs, target audiences, and competitive landscapes for incubated businesses.
- Collaborate with incubated startups to create customized marketing plans to enhance their market reach and brand positioning.
Campaign Execution:
- Plan. Organize and oversee marketing campaigns across venous channels, such as social media, email, print, and digital platforms.
- Monitor and evaluate the performance of campaigns suggest improvements.
Market Linkages
- Establish connections with distributors, readers, and other stakeholders to create market opportunities for incubated startups, buyers, suppliers, and industry influencers.
- Support startups in accessing new market and scaling their businesses regionally and internationally.
Stakeholder Engagement
- Collaborate with internal teams, such as sales and product development, to align marketing efforts.
- Build and maintain relationships with external vendors. media outlets, and partners.
Digital Content Creation and Management:
- Manage the incubation program’s digital presence, including website, social media. and email campaigns
- Develop engaging marketing materials, including brochures, newsletters, social media content, and website updates.
- Create engaging content such as success stones, blog posts, newsletters, and promotional materials to highlight program achievements.
- Leverage data analytics to optimize marketing campaigns and improve digital engagement.
- Manage content calendars and ensure timely delivery of campaigns.
Analytics and Reporting
- Track marketing metrics and prepare regular report to assess effectiveness.
- Use insights from data analysis to refine strategies and achieve better results.
- Track the performance of marketing activities and provide regular reports on their impact.
- Develop and maintain databases of market contacts, partnerships, and media outlets.
- Analyze the effectiveness of marketing campaigns and provide recommendations for improvement.
Qualifications, Skills and Experience:
- Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Business, or a related field.
- Proven experience in a marketing role, preferably years in entrepreneurship support. startup ecosystems. or incubation programs.
- Strong knowledge of digital marketing tools and platforms
- Excellent verbal and written communication
- Proficiency in graphic design and content management software is a plus.
