The position requires a distinguished scholar with expertise in one or more of the following areas: Supply Chain and Logistics Management, Financial Modelling, Marketing, Strategic Management, Business Analytics, or Digital Business Transformation. The successful candidate will contribute to the advancement of competency-based and industry-responsive business education, strengthen research productivity, attract innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa. Responsibilities or duties Academic Leadership - Provide strategic and intellectual leadership in Business Administration and related disciplines.
- Lead curriculum design, review, and alignment with contemporary industry and global business trends.
- Promote competency-based, experiential, and industry-integrated learning approaches.
- Champion innovation in business education, including digital learning, simulations, case-based teaching, and analytics-driven decision-making.
- Mentor junior academic staff in teaching, research, publication, and professional development.
- Support accreditation, quality assurance, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Secure external funding, and enhance the Universityâs visibility as a leading centre for business
Teaching and Learning - Teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses in areas such as: Supply Chain and Logistics Management, Procurement and Contract Management, Financial Modelling and Business Analytics, Corporate Finance, Strategic Marketing, Consumer Behaviour, Digital Marketing and Brand Management, Operations and Project Management, International Business, Entrepreneurship and Innovation.
- Supervise undergraduate projects, masterâs dissertations, and doctoral research.
- Integrate real-world business challenges, simulations, and data-driven analysis into teaching.
- Develop innovative teaching materials and online learning resources.
Research and Innovation - Conduct high-impact research leading to publication in internationally recognised peer-reviewed journals.
- Establish and lead research clusters in supply chain systems, logistics optimisation, financial modelling, marketing analytics, or related business fields.
- Secure research grants, consultancy projects, and strategic partnerships.
- Promote interdisciplinary and applied research addressing African and global business challenges.
- Lead innovation, entrepreneurship, and business incubation initiatives.
- Contribute to policy development and evidence-based business solutions.
Industry and Community Engagement - Strengthen partnerships with industry, government agencies, financial institutions, and international organisations.
- Provide consultancy and advisory services in logistics, financial analysis, business strategy, and marketing.
- Promote entrepreneurship and private sector development initiatives.
- Facilitate internships, industrial placements, and employability initiatives for students.
- Support executive education, professional training, and capacity-building programmes.
Administrative Responsibilities - Participate actively in Faculty, Senate, and University committees.
- Contribute to strategic planning, institutional development, and programme growth.
- Support student recruitment, retention, and academic advising.
- Contribute to institutional visibility, rankings, and internationalisation efforts.
Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills) Academic Qualifications - Earned PhD in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management, Logistics Management, Marketing, Finance, Business Analytics, or a closely related discipline from a recognised university.
- Masterâs and Bachelorâs degrees in relevant business disciplines.
- Professional qualifications such as CIPS, CIM, ACCA, CFA, CPA, PMP, or equivalent will be an added advantage.
Experience needed - At least ten years of university teaching, research, and academic leadership experience.
- Evidence of successful supervision of postgraduate students at masterâs and doctoral levels.
- Strong publication record in reputable indexed journals.
- Demonstrated experience in attracting research funding and managing funded projects.
- Experience in curriculum development, quality assurance, and competency-based education.
- Strong engagement with industry, consultancy, or policy advisory work.
