Responsibilities or duties

The incumbent will be responsible to the Assistant Commissioner – Water for Production for performing the following duties:-

• Improving functionality of Water for Production facilities through the establishment of sustainability operation and maintenance framework;
• Facilitating the effective planning, design, construction and operation and maintenance of water infrastructures and systems for production use in agricultural, industries, energy and other uses;
• Supporting the construction of dams and valley tanks to increase livestock production and productivity;
• Supporting construction of irrigation schemes to increase production and productivity;
• Supporting construction of bulk water systems for multipurpose use;
• Any other duties as may be assigned from time to time.

Qualifications or requirements (e.g., education, skills)

Applicants should be Ugandans holding an Honours Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering; or Mechanical Engineering; or Water Engineering; or Agricultural Engineering plus a Masters Degree in any of the above fields from a recognized University / Institution. Possession of a Post Graduate Diploma in Management will be an added advantage. Applicants in case of Engineers should be registered with the Uganda Engineers’ Registration Board.

Experience needed

Applicants should have a minimum of six (6) years relevant working experience, three (3) of which should have been as a senior Engineer in Government.
