Position Summary The Primary Head Teacher provides overall strategic, spiritual, and operational leadership for the school, ensuring the delivery of high-quality, Christ-centered education. The role holds full accountability for academic performance, staff welfare, student discipline, financial stewardship, and curriculum delivery, while building a school culture rooted in excellence, integrity, and Biblical values. The Head Teacher works closely with the Director of Studies and AsOne Ministries leadership to translate the organization's mission into day-to-day school operations. Key Responsibilities Strategic Leadership & Management - Provide overall strategic direction for the school in line with AsOne Ministries' mission, vision, and values.
- Develop, implement, and review the school's strategic and annual operational plans.
- Set clear academic, spiritual, and operational targets, and monitor progress against them.
- Represent the school to parents, government education offices, donors, and the wider community.
- Ensure compliance with Ministry of Education and Sports guidelines, policies, and regulations.
- Champion continuous school improvement through data-informed decision-making.
Curriculum Oversight - Oversee the planning, delivery, and quality of the national curriculum across all classes.
- Ensure lesson plans, schemes of work, and assessments align with national and school standards.
- Monitor teaching quality through classroom observations, lesson audits, and learner assessment data.
- Guide the integration of Christ-centered values into curriculum delivery across all subjects.
- Coordinate internal and external examinations, ensuring integrity and timely reporting of results.
- Identify curriculum gaps and lead initiatives for remedial support and academic improvement.
Staff Welfare & Development - Foster a supportive, motivating, and respectful working environment for all staff.
- Lead recruitment, induction, supervision, and performance appraisal of teaching and support staff.
- Identify staff training and professional development needs, and coordinate relevant capacity-building.
- Address staff welfare concerns promptly and fairly, escalating as needed to school leadership.
- Promote staff spiritual growth through devotions, mentorship, and pastoral support.
- Mediate and resolve staff conflicts in a manner that upholds unity and mutual respect.
Student Discipline & Welfare - Establish and enforce a fair, consistent, and Christ-centered student discipline policy.
- Provide guidance, counseling, and pastoral care to students, directly and through staff.
- Oversee student welfare matters, including safety, health, and general wellbeing on school premises.
- Handle serious disciplinary cases with fairness, confidentiality, and appropriate follow-through.
- Promote a positive school culture that encourages respect, responsibility, and spiritual growth.
Financial Management - Prepare, manage, and monitor the school budget in collaboration with the finance team.
- Ensure prudent use of school resources, supplies, and facilities.
- Oversee fee collection, expenditure approvals, and financial record-keeping in line with AsOne policies.
- Provide timely and accurate financial reports to AsOne Ministries leadership.
- Support resource mobilization efforts and ensure accountability for donor-funded programs.
Teamwork & Collaboration - Build strong working relationships across teaching staff, support staff, and school leadership.
- Collaborate with the Director of Studies and AsOne Ministries departments to align school programs with the broader mission.
- Engage parents, guardians, and the local community as active partners in the school's success.
- Model collaborative, humble, and servant-hearted leadership consistent with Christian values.
- Participate actively in school and organizational initiatives, including devotions, fellowships, and outreach programs.
Other Duties - Perform additional duties as assigned by AsOne Ministries leadership as needs arise.
What We're Looking For Required Qualifications & Experience - Education: Bachelor's Degree in Education, Educational Leadership/Management, or a related field (a Diploma in Primary Education with substantial leadership experience may be considered).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of teaching experience, including at least 2 years in a school leadership or management role (e.g., Head Teacher, Deputy Head Teacher, or Director of Studies).
- Sound knowledge of the national primary curriculum, Ministry of Education policies, and school administration.
- A demonstrated personal Christian faith and commitment to Christ-centered education.
