PET Blow Molding Line Engineer job at Dalilang Foods & Beverages

Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.

Deliver end to end maintenance and technical reliability for high pressure PET stretch blow molding machines, molds, preform heating ovens, and bottle air conveyors.

Execute systematic diagnostics, routine servicing, and planned repairs to prevent downtime and safeguard product quality, equipment integrity, and operational safety.

Partner with production and maintenance teams to optimize machine availability, control resource waste, and adhere to strict safety and quality standards.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Inspect, maintain, adjust, and repair high pressure PET stretch blow molding equipment, molds, preform heating ovens, and bottle air conveyors.
• Execute mold changeovers, preform heating curve setups, and bottle distribution checks to meet bottle specifications and operational standards.
• Apply strict electrical, mechanical, thermal, and 40 bar high pressure pneumatic isolation procedures prior to intrusive maintenance work.
• Perform systematic technical diagnostics using manuals, drawings, measurements, PLC and HMI screens, and fault codes to isolate root causes.
• Conduct preventive and predictive maintenance checks, monitoring wear, vibration, temperature, leakage, noise, and loose connections.
• Verify safety interlocks, guarding, lubrication, alignment, and functional performance before handing equipment back to operations.
• Maintain complete, legible, and traceable records including maintenance logs, machine settings, checklists, shift reports, and spare parts usage.
• Escalate critical equipment risks, safety hazards, or suspected quality non conformances immediately to appropriate authorities.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical, Plastics, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Industrial, Automation and Control, Instrumentation, Plant Maintenance, Chemical Technology, Automotive, Water, Marine, or Civil and Building Engineering.
• Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, or National Diploma (including UBTEB qualifications) in Mechanical, Electrical, Electronics, Mechatronics, Plant Maintenance, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related technical discipline.
• National Certificate, Craft Certificate, trade certificate, or recognized apprenticeship in Mechanical Fitting, Welding and Fabrication, Refrigeration and Air Conditioning, Plumbing, or related trades.
• Mandatory statutory credentials, registrations, or specialist certifications where applicable by law or task scope, such as ERB or UPE registration, ERA licensing, boiler operator licensing, refrigeration certification, PLC training, or certified welding qualifications.

Experience

• 3+ years of experience maintaining automated PET blow molding machinery.
