Background

Dalilang Foods & Beverages is a Ugandan FMCG manufacturer producing packaged snacks, including potato crisps, gonja chips, coated peanuts and peanut butter, alongside spring water, fruit nectars and energy drinks.

Job Description

Inspect incoming packaging materials to ensure only items meeting quality standards and specifications are released for production. Safeguard product integrity and identification by verifying material attributes, preventing defect ridden or obsolete items from entering manufacturing lines.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Check incoming packaging supplies against purchase orders, approved samples, material specifications, and receiving documentation.
• Verify supplier identity, item codes, batch or lot details, quantities, dimensions, and physical condition before starting inspection.
• Collect representative samples from deliveries to check for contamination, physical damage, colour variations, and construction defects.
• Examine flexible packaging films for thickness, width, print registration, surface condition, and sealing performance using approved methods.
• Inspect corrugated cartons, PET preforms, caps, and closures for dimensional accuracy, board strength, thread integrity, and visual uniformity.
• Compare labels against authorized references to verify product names, artwork versions, barcodes, and batch print areas.
• Record inspection findings accurately and release compliant materials in accordance with established company procedures.
• Place questionable materials on hold and refer issues promptly to QA, procurement, warehouse, or packaging specialists.
• Coordinate with warehouse personnel to ensure clear physical segregation between uninspected, approved, and obsolete materials.
• Maintain approved reference samples and specifications to ensure obsolete versions are not mixed with current inventory.

• Degree, Higher Diploma, Diploma, National Diploma, National Certificate, technical certificate, vocational qualification, or recognized equivalent in Packaging Technology, Printing Technology, Food Science, Industrial Chemistry, Polymer Technology, Plastics Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Technology, Quality Management, Procurement, Stores Management, Supply Chain, Industrial Production, Applied Sciences, or related fields.
• Uganda Advanced Certificate of Education (UACE) qualifying through structured training.
• Uganda Certificate of Education (UCE) with demonstrated practical, literacy, and numeracy capabilities for visual and measurement based inspection.

Experience

• No prior work experience required.
• Includes a one month training program providing practical instruction in sampling, specifications, measurement tools, and quality escalation.
