Job Description

Source flexible packaging films, corrugated shipping cartons, labels, and strapping tape from qualified vendors to ensure uninterrupted packaging operations.

Manage supplier lead times, pricing negotiations, and order issuance while maintaining high quality, safety, and traceability standards.

Ensure inventory accuracy and cost efficiency by aligning material purchasing schedules with factory production requirements.

Key Duties & Responsibilities

• Source flexible packaging films, corrugated shipping cartons, labels, and strapping tape from qualified and approved vendors.
• Analyze packaging specifications, compare supplier quotes, evaluate total cost of ownership, and negotiate competitive pricing within delegated approval limits.
• Issue purchase orders and track supplier lead times to guarantee timely delivery and eliminate packaging stockouts.
• Maintain accurate physical and system inventory records, verifying quantities, batch information, and documentation upon material arrival.
• Enforce proper material handling, storage segregation, and FIFO or FEFO rotation protocols to prevent damage, contamination, and expiration.
• Coordinate closely with production, warehousing, and quality teams to convert production requirements into realistic purchasing timelines.
• Document supplier decisions, price agreements, and transaction records thoroughly to maintain full audit readiness and transparency.
• Investigate material discrepancies, non conformances, and inventory variances promptly, implementing corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
• Comply with all occupational safety, food safety, hygiene, environmental, and conflict of interest standards throughout the purchasing cycle.

Education Qualifications & Experience

Education Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree, Higher Diploma, Ordinary Diploma, or National Diploma in Procurement and Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Stores Management, Inventory Management, Warehousing, Transport and Logistics, Business Administration, Commerce, Accounting, Agribusiness, Agriculture, Packaging, or Business Studies.

Professional certification in purchasing and supply, such as CIPS or an equivalent qualification, is preferred.

National Certificate, UACE, or UCE with relevant vocational training and demonstrated record keeping and numeracy competence.

Qualifications in Agricultural Economics, Crop Science, Horticulture, Post Harvest Management, or Extension for agricultural material sourcing pathways.

Experience

At least 2 years of experience buying packaging materials within FMCG industries.
