The Key Purpose of this role is to ensure optimum utilization of packaging line, raw materials and people, to produce quality product at minimum cost which meets customer requirements while complying with legislation. Key Roles and Responsibility: 1.Safety, Health and Environment: - Maintain a safe, healthy, and risk-free working environment.
- Ensure a hazard-free packaging hall.
- Promote and enforce compliance with all safety standards and procedures.
- Identify potential risks and implement corrective actions to prevent incidents.
2. People Management and Development: - Develop employees through regular training, coaching, and performance feedback.
- Manage and apply personnel processes effectively.
- Foster and maintain a healthy industrial relations climate.
- Ensure team members are fully conversant with the Manufacturing Way and Global Evaluation of Manufacturing (GEM).
3. Operational Efficiency and Cost Management: - Drive initiatives to reduce packaging-related costs and improve packaging efficiency.
- Optimise raw material usage and manage costs across different applications.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and knowledge sharing to improve operational performance.
- Analyse operational data and research to identify opportunities for improving packaging processes and implement relevant solutions.
4. Maintenance and Asset Management: - Maintain maintenance integrity across packaging operations.
- Optimise plant availability through effective maintenance planning.
- Plan and implement maintenance priorities.
- Ensure asset care business processes are adhered to at all times.
- Conduct engineering administration related to maintenance activities.
5. Process Improvement and Standardisation: - Develop and execute standard operating procedures (SOPs) and guidelines for product packaging.
- Monitor industry trends and innovations to adopt best practices and technologies in packaging.
- Facilitate problem-solving initiatives to address operational challenges.
6. Performance Monitoring and Systems Management: - Monitor system usage reports and manage issues arising from them.
- Follow up on the improvement of Better World performance metrics within the department.
- Conduct regular assessments using the Global Evaluation of Manufacturing (GEM) framework to measure team and departmental maturity.
7. VPO and Manufacturing Excellence: - Ensure that Voyager Plant Optimisation (VPO) is fully entrenched within the team.
- Develop and implement action plans to improve maturity in Manufacturing Way principles and practices.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives aligned with VPO standards.
Key Attributes and Competencies: - Demonstrated experience in maintenance decisions in a packaging hall (financial, operational, people)
- A superior performance track record indicating a disciplined work ethic with passion at maintaining quality
- Mental alertness and analytical ability
- Managing people ability as well as ability to drive performance
- Leadership ability (ability to lead the maintenance planner, controller and a full engineering team)
- Good interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to develop and control budgets
- Ability to implement appropriate HR processes to manage, motivate and develop
- Ability to manage major shutdowns and complex projects with greater success
- Ability to facilitate problem solving with teams
- High level of resilience and ability to operate in a high-pressure environment
- Experience of managing and running a high - speed packaging line highly advantageous
Minimum Requirements: - BSc in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- A minimum of 5 yearsâ experience in Production and Maintenance Management with deep expertise in maintenance management
- A minimum of 3 yearsâ experience in managing people
