Job Profile / Summary
The Operations & Product Manager oversees daily safari and travel operations, vehicle fleet management, car hire, and product development. This role guarantees that all tourism products meet UTB quality standards, safety regulations, and client expectations. They act as the companyâs focal point for tourism police, UWA, and UTB inspectors, ensuring smooth client experiences and operational compliance.
Key Responsibilities
1. Design, price, and implement tour packages and itineraries.
2. Oversee vehicle inspections, UTB compliance checklists, and insurance coverage.
3. Supervise reservations, guest relations, guides, and housekeeping staff.
4. Liaise with UTB, UWA, and Tourism Police for compliance and client security.
5. Coordinate emergency response, medical evacuations, and incident reporting.
6. Ensure all suppliers (hotels, transport, subcontractors) are UTB-licensed.
7. Monitor car hire services, ensure roadworthiness, and maintain logbooks.
8. Conduct quarterly supplier audits and compliance checks.
9. Train staff on HSE, client care, and cultural sensitivity.
10. Manage complaints handling in line with company policy.
11. Monitor guesthouses and Airbnb units for UTB accommodation standards.
12. Prepare monthly operational reports for CEO and Board.
13. Lead environmental and community conservation initiatives.
14. Supervise food safety and hygiene standards.
15. Drive customer satisfaction, retention, and repeat bookings.
KPIs & Targets
- 100% vehicles inspected and compliant.
- 95%+ client satisfaction rating.
- 100% HSE drills completed annually.
- Zero UTB compliance breaches.
Education & Qualifications
- Bachelors in Tourism Management (Makerere, UMI, KIU).
- Professional: UHTTI Certificate in Tour Operations & Guiding.
- 7+ years in operations or product management in tourism.
