This role involves working closely with production staff, and regularly coordinating with the sales and accounting departments to ensure seamless operations across the board. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Inventory and Stock Control: â Manage the receipt and storage of raw materials with utmost accuracy, ensuring all items are correctly verified and logged. â Proactively monitor and maintain inventory levels, initiating reorder procedures to sustain production without interruptions. â Continuously improve stock management systems to enhance accuracy and efficiency, producing detailed stock reports on a daily, weekly, and monthly basis. â Ensure inventory practices meet the evolving needs of the business, adapting processes to support operational efficiency. Product Allocation and Quality Assurance: â Oversee the distribution of final products, ensuring they are accurately allocated to the correct clients and maintain a high standard of quality. â Manage returns and reallocations effectively, minimising disruption and maintaining customer satisfaction. â Implement quality control checks to guarantee that all products meet our stringent quality standards before delivery. Team Management and Staff Supervision: â Lead and coordinate production staff, managing scheduling, role allocation, and performance to maximize productivity. â Address minor staff issues directly and escalate significant concerns to higher management. â Participate in the performance reviews of staff, contributing to their professional development and ensuring alignment with company goals. Operational Safety, Hygiene, and Maintenance: â Maintain a safe and clean work environment by rigorously enforcing health and safety standards, including the correct use of personal protective equipment. â Promote workplace hygiene and ensure conditions are not only fair but also conducive to high productivity and staff well-being. â Advocate for ergonomic practices that enhance staff comfort and efficiency. Machine Maintenance: â Develop and oversee the maintenance schedule for all production machinery to ensure continuous operation. â Coordinate repairs and maintain a roster of qualified technicians for regular and emergency maintenance. â Manage the procurement of spare parts and maintain relationships with suppliers to support ongoing maintenance needs. Collaboration and Communication: â Maintain effective communication with the management team, including the General Manager, accountants, and sales leaders to foster a cohesive operational strategy. â Deliver regular reports detailing operational progress, challenges, and milestones to senior management. Job Requirements: â Bachelorâs degree in Business Administration, Operations Management, or a related field. â At least two years of proven supervisory experience in operations, inventory, or production management. â Experience in construction, shearing, or metal fabrication industries is preferred but not mandatory. â Strong computer skills, including proficiency in word processing, spreadsheets, and inventory management software.
