Job Title:  Human Rights Officer/Compliance Officer

Organisation: Sinopec (Uganda)

Duty Station:  Buliisa, Hoima Uganda (Tilenga Project Sites)

Priority: Candidates from Project Affected Area are preferred, namely, Hoima, Nwoya, Buliisa,.Masindi and Pakwach

Sinopec Service is engaged in the provision of all project phases service for various sectors, including oil & gas, power, buildings, roads and bridges etc. We are looking for Construction and Project support personnel.

Key Duties and Responsibilities:

• Grievance and concerns management – investigate, resolve or escalate concerns
• Human Rights audit, worker interviews and inspections
• Human rights awareness / inductions and toolbox
• Reporting on human rights
• Implement both SINOPEC and subcontractor social investment programs in community
• Identify social management obligations and controls
• Designing and implementing an assurance framework.
• Support development and continuously improve systems, procedures and processes tailored to mitigating/managing risk
• Backstop the Social Affairs Officer
• Support the CLO during their absence
• Assess monitor and evaluate contractor/subcontractor social management programs and ensure they’re aligned with Company requirement

Qualifications, Skills and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Anthropology, Human Resources or related field with at least 3 years of relevant experience.
• NGO/governmental experience is preferred
• Good communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to develop and maintain good relationships with both internal and external stakeholders
• Knowledge of the project areas local language is preferred: Alur, Acholi and Rugungu.
