Job Description/Requirements FACILITY: The Children’s clinic Kisasi & Naalya  Children’s Nurse Being a nurse in a children’s facility, involves a high level of duty and responsibility, from caring for young children with debilitating illnesses to nursing older children who have been in accidents. When a baby, toddler, child or adolescent needs constant monitoring, supervision and treatment, the role of a nurse comes in. Nurses are responsible for caring for children in various circumstances and scenarios. Nurse job profile A s children's nurse is a nurse working in a children's unit whose responsibility is to care for ill and injured children. nurses provide the children with their basic medical needs and work closely with Paediatric doctors to ensure they return to good health. Responsibilities of the nurse Essentially, the nurse is responsible for caring for children who are sick or injured in a range of capacities. Paediatric nurses, or children's nurses, work as part of a team of medical staff involving doctors, healthcare assistants and health visitors. They are generally expected to work shift patterns, perform under pressure and think on the spot in stressful situations. Day-to-day roles and responsibilities of the nurse include: - Planning and assessing children's nursing care requirementsÂ
- Offering guidance to parents about how to best care for their sick child ? Administering injections, medication and infusionsÂ
- Diagnosing and treating day-to-day child illnessesÂ
- Taking samples from patientsÂ
- Checking on the condition and progress of patientsÂ
- Monitoring patients' pulse and blood pressureÂ
- Providing emotional support to patientsÂ
- Obtaining parental consent for specific treatmentsÂ
- Handling accidents and emergenciesÂ
- Supervising student nurses and junior staffÂ
- Writing records.Â
- Following up on clients seen by making daily calls.Â
- Immunizing children as and when the need arises.

QUALIFICATIONS - Bachelor’s degree or Diploma in Nursing sciences.Â
- UNMC registered with up- to – date practicing licenses.Â
- At least 2 years working experience in a fast paced environment.Â
- Experience with working with Children is an added advantage.Â
