This role serves as the second-in-command in the Power department and supports policy development, system compliance, and cross-departmental collaboration. Key Duties and Responsibilities: Grid Operations & Maintenance - Monitor and manage grid performance to ensure stable and reliable power supply.
- Implement and oversee preventive maintenance schedules for grid infrastructure, including transformers, substations, and switchgear.
- Respond promptly to faults, outages, and grid anomalies, ensuring minimum downtime.
- Coordinate grid load balancing, voltage regulation, and switching programs in collaboration with sector players (e.g., UETCL, UEDCL).
Solar Power Plant Operations - Oversee the operations of the Solar PV power plant to ensure maximum energy output and efficiency.
- Perform preventive and corrective maintenance for solar equipment, including inverters, panels, and monitoring systems.
- Utilize SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition) and other monitoring tools to power system performance and resolve issues proactively.
Performance Optimizations - Collect and analyze performance metrics to identify inefficiencies or bottlenecks in operations.
- Propose and implement solutions to enhance system reliability and reduce operational costs.
- Track energy losses (technical and commercial) and develop strategies to mitigate them.
- Network assets digitization is done to standard.
- Actively plan for the grid assets and line extensions.
Policy & Compliance - Ensure operations meet national safety codes, regulatory standards, and environmental compliance requirements.
- Contribute to the development and enforcement of standard operating procedures (SOPs) and policies for electrical operations.
- Draft detailed reports on safety incidents and operational challenges, as well as recommended improvements for management review.
Team Leadership & Collaboration - Provide technical guidance and support to technicians and operators, fostering professional growth and skill development.
- Lead troubleshooting efforts for complex system issues and coordinate with cross-functional teams for resolution.
- Identify skill gaps in the team and coordinate training initiatives with the head of electrical services.
Cross Departmental Support - Collaborate with the ferry services and water services departments to maintain and repair electrical systems integral to their operations.
- Develop and implement maintenance schedules for electrical systems on ferries and water supply installations.
Reporting & Documentation - Prepare regular performance reports, including KPIs, downtime metrics, and maintenance schedules, for the head of power services.
- Maintain accurate records of grid operations, solar plant performance, and maintenance activities.
- Lead response teams during power outages or emergencies to restore operations promptly.
- Identify operational risks and develop mitigation strategies, ensuring business continuity.

Qualifications, Skills and Experience: Education - Bachelorâs degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy engineering, or a related field.
Experience - Six (6) yearsâ experience with two (2) years in a supervisory role.
Knowledge, skills and competences - In-depth knowledge of grid operations, power generation systems, and renewable energy solutions.
- Proven ability to lead teams and manage field operations efficiently.
- Ability to analyze system data and recommend actionable improvements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication for reporting, team coordination, and stakeholder engagement.
- Strong focus on accuracy and precision in operations and reporting.
- Collaborative mindset for working across departments.
